it was a hot summer morning and the cicadas chirped like a string quartet under the nearby trees.

jungwon lifted the manga on his face and took off his plaid jacket. he hissed in pain as the wood on the chair burned his back.

he smiled at the grandma in front of him and said a small 'checkmate' before knocking off her king, shaking her veiny hand gently and leaving the site.

it was dawn and there was only the elders that came to either do taichee, play go or chess.

he passed by a small dark alley and noticed a small sound coming from one of the battered cardboard boxes near the dumpster.

jungwon decided to approach it, and he was horrified at what he saw.

he peered into the opening of the box and found a black cat. it was probably a few years old and it was whimpering at the heat and stench radiating from the dumpster.

he wrapped his plaid jacket over the animal and decided to skip college and bring it home.

the kitten flinched in the warm water and meowed, to which jungwon responded with his own meows.

this caused the kitty to shut up and let jungwon bathe him.

after drying, jungwon made some corn on the cob and peeled some pieces off for the kitty, to which he purred as a response.

"aww, you like corn?" the kitty nodded. jungwon giggled in delight and brought the little creature close to his face.

"we're gonna have a lot of fun!" he smiled, his boba eyes glimmering under the led lights, glee evident in his bright smile.

for some reason, his allergy wasn't apparent with this kitty, and he was glad he made a new friend.

after a week of preparing the kitty's things in his house, he realised that the kitty was a he and loved buttered corn.

he also noted that the kitty hasn't been named.

he was figuring out what he should name the kitty, finding that calling it 'honey' wasn't sustainable at all.

he smiled fondly as he unlocked the door, but froze in his steps.

he dropped his groceries. the rows and rows of corn fell near his feet, as the unknown man on his couch flinched at his presence.

"shit, i didn't know you'd be home so early today." he was wearing nothing but jungwon's sweat pants. his toned stomach made jungwon's shocked face turn a flustered pink.

"what? i- who- who are you?" jungwon grabbed the umbrella from the coat rack, attempting to defend himself. "t-this is illegal- you- you trespasser!" jungwon moved towards his kitchen counter.

the stranger smiled sheepishly at the shaken jungwon. "hey, i'm no trespasser," his hands were at both of jungwon's sides, gripping on the counter edge.

"i'm your honey, remember?" he looked at him with the most endearing gaze, to which jungwon's grip on the umbrella loosened.

"what the actual- what?" jungwon was officially malfunctioning. the only honey he knew and loved was his cat which was nowhere to be seen, so the only explanation was—

"i'm your kitty."

of course, jungwon's first reflect was to spin kick the stranger, causing him to pass out.
