"why don't you have sunrises too?" jungwon would remember asking jay this question, while jay would sip on his tea.

their armours clad on their tired bodies, jay's double edged sword on his back, staring back at jungwon.

jay's expression was cold, unfeeling. "i belong in the sunset. when dusk washes over the mountains and the dark enters. you don't," jay proceeded to place his cup onto the table, looking into jungwon's large orbs.

sometimes it was as if jungwon was a mirror, his reflection staring back at his soul.

he continued, "you're different. you belong during sunrise." he looked at the sky, now bright with colour. "don't sunrise eventually meet sunset?" jungwon laughed, jay's gaze only softened.

"that's why you appreciate those moments." jungwon furrowed his brows. "sunrises are pretty. the sun giving the sky light and unearthing the clouds."

"and the clouds paint the sky." jay looked into the distance, the fog of the mountains surrounding the edge of their view.

each ray is a new day.

jay has had that ingrained in his memory ever since.

now his sword clashes with the other's blade, while jungwon watched from afar in pure terror. he was paralysed, out of character for an experienced assassin.

jay knew this was a losing game. jungwon needed to save the lord of their organisation, there was no time for him. his life is owed to the organisation, an assassin is worth nothing.

jungwon held in his sobs as he helped the remaining commanders out of the war zone.

jay knew he was doomed. his opponent had been poisoned, but so was he.

"using your poisonous blood is silly." jay's opponent giggled. "i will survive this." but jay only smirked.

"sadly for you, i amped up the concentration. we're in this together, asshole." he grinned, bloody teeth showing as his opponent tried to make a run for it.

jay looked up at the sky once more, and he is reminded of jungwon. "the clouds are pretty today, just like you."

jay closed his eyes, imagining jungwon's head on his shoulder, sleeping soundly, knowing how much he must be crying. "all i ask is to share the view of this sky with you."

and he took his last breath with a smile.
