☕️ Chapter Seventeen ☕️

"What the..." I trail off at the sight of the farm.

It's not all green and grassy and hot out...no...there's snow on the ground. Snow! In Dallas! It's already made the inside of the car freezing cold.

Vanya pulls the car up to the house and we all climb out. Now that I'm out of the car, I can hear that there's lightning coming from the barn...very strange.

"You think whatever's going on inside is causing the cold front?" Diego asks, looking at the barn.

"Well, the correlation is high." Five replies.

All seven of us start walking toward the barn. "Just so you understand, he means yes."

"I know what he means, you snarky little shit." He growls, only making me smirk at him.

A woman runs out of the barn, pointing a gun at us. "Get back!"

"Sissy!" Vanya calls out. "Sissy!"

"All of you!" Sissy cocks the gun. "Get the hell back!"

Klaus puts his hands up in surrender, making me roll my eyes. Of course he would do that. Then again, most people do when a gun is being pointed directly at them.

"Sissy!" Vanya holds her hand out towards her. "Hey! What's wrong?"

Sissy pants. "Carl..."

"What did he do to you?" Vanya asks.

Sissy breathes shakily. "He's...he's dead. Harlan tossed him aside like a ragdoll. The same way you sent those policemen flying. What did you do to him?"

"No-" Vanya starts.

Diego starts walking towards the barn. "We don't have time for this."

Sissy aims the gun at him. "Where do you think you're going?"

Using my powers, I drag Diego back and smack him on the back of his head. "We're here to do nothing more but help your son, miss."

"I'll kill you for that." He growls.

I send him a small smirk. "Not before I kill you~"

Vanya sighs. "You might not think it because of how they argue, but this is my family." She gestures back to all of us. "These are my brothers and my sisters."

Luther sends her a short wave. "Ma'am."

Sissy lowers the gun. "Were you lyin' to me this whole time?"

"Of course not." Vanya replies. "Look. I didn't know who I was, but I do now. We're not the monsters that they say we are. We didn't kill the president. We're not terrorists. We're not here to hurt anyone."

"Then..." Sissy pants softly. "Who are you?"

"The only ones who can save Harlan." Vanya answers.

Sissy finally allows us to enter the barn and Vanya runs up to the sliding door and slides the door open, revealing a kid being circled by some powerful energy.

"Harlan!" Vanya shouts. "It's me, Vanya! Look! Harlan, I know you're really scared, but I can help you! I need you to listen to me, ok?! Can you do that?!" Vanya soon enters the energy surrounding Harlan, after getting no answer.

"Be careful!" Five calls out.

We can't really hear what Vanya is saying, because of how loud the energy's whooshing is.

"Uh...guys?" Klaus questions from a large opening in the barn.

"What is it?" Diego asks, walking over to him.
