Chapter 42: Epilogue

 I think I'm finally ready to move forward. 

I have a plan. Peter's birthday is on Friday and we're having a big pack dinner. So I'm going to inform him that I booked a staycation for us. 

Which we have done a few times for our anniversary.

Talia is allowing us to use the family cabin. She said it's essentially a tradition. She did the same for Jordan and Derek as well as Isaac and Cora. She said she tried with Laura and Thomas, but Laura just threw it back in her face. 

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that Peter will catch on once we arrive. Nonetheless, it's exciting. I'm actually excited that I'm going to experience the mate bond in full. Don't get me wrong, I'm still probably going to be nervous day of. But I'm excited to know truly how it feels. 

And no, I don't know what the reason is. What has changed. Maybe it's because I see the positive effects of the bond every day. With Talia and David. Derek and Jordan. Cora and Isaac. Erica and Boyd. Lydia and Aiden. Ethan and Jackson. I mean I've been surrounded by it. I see it with my dad and Chris when we have Sunday dinners or when they come join us at the pack house. I see it in the small smile that appears on Danny's face when he writes to Thomas. It's wonderful and I can't wait to experience it for myself. To see Peter's reaction to it. A feeling he's been waiting to feel since he was a child. One he didn't think he'd have for a long time because of my stubborn decision. 

I want to make my soulmate happy. 

I want to make Peter happy.

He's been so understanding and patient with me. And now I think I'm finally ready and I can't wait.

It's time. 

Peter took the news of a staycation for his birthday wonderfully. I did inform him that it begins after his birthday dinner. He understood, but I could see the small content smile on his face throughout the whole thing. 

Dinner was wonderful. Mainly because Laura didn't come. She didn't want Thomas near Danny. So she refuses to come see her family. But no one is butt hurt about it like she thinks they are. 

Tells you something, doesn't it? 

Anyway, the dinner was lovely. Peter was happy and content. 

Now for the surprise. 

Peter and I got into the car and I made sure to put the address in my phone to hopefully not ruin the surprise. He didn't bother asking any questions throughout the drive. 

Like I said, patient.

I'm not sure if he's caught on quite yet or not. But if he hasn't, he should when we turn onto a side road that heads to a different area of the preserve. And I know he gets an idea when the cabin comes into view. 

Once parked he looks at me. I can see a light sheen of tears in his eyes. 

"Really?"

"Peter, I'm ready to be mated to you."

He surged forward catching my lips in a bruising kiss.
