ACT I CHAPTER I
(Madelyn)"WE'RE GONNA BE stuck here for forever." The blond groaned as she fell back onto one of her friend's sofas.
"You're being dramatic, Mads," Ben said not looking up from his computer. The pair were making some more preparations for the ship party thing as Mads called it.
"Why can't you just do it yourself? Or, I don't know, Jane? She likes planning and all of this stuff!"
Ben rolled his eyes at his childhood best friend, finally standing up and heading in Madelyn's direction.
"Get up, Mads."
"Fuck off, Benny Boy."
The King grimaces at the nickname. Audrey used to call him that when they were a thing. Ever since the first time, Madelyn heard the nickname, she started using it to annoy Ben and it always worked.
Sighing, The brunet grabbed the legs of his best friend, making her go wide-eye, already knowing what he was going to do, "Benny Boy, we can talk about this-"
But her pleading didn't help, as the boy dragged her to the floor and she groaned as her butt hit the floor.
"Up,"
"Fine, Dad." The girl rolled her eyes one more time before standing up, and fixing up her golden necklaces. "Stupid, Benny Boy."
"What was that?"
"Nothing you need to worry about." The demi-god smiled sweetly, while brushing the nonexistent dust off her friend's shoulders.
"Ben," The pair turned their attention to the blue haired girl that just appeared in the doorway.
"Evie? Come in."
"Yes, Eves, please come in and save me from this boring bastard." Mads joked, but her smile fell when she noticed the look on her friend's face. The vk closed the door and walked over to the pair, her eyes filled with worry.
"Mal's gone back to the Isle."
That made Madelyn drop the pillow behind her, the one she was planning on hitting Ben with just moments ago. The Grimhilde girl handed the King a piece of paper, making the the blond peer over his shoulder to read it too.
"Ben," Ben along with his blond friend, lifted their eyes to see Evie holding his ring. Oh no.
Ben crumbled the paper in his hand, "This is my fault. This is my fault, I-I blew it." Madelyn sighed, placing her hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort her childhood best friend.
"She'd been under so much pressure lately, and instead of being understanding, I went all Beast on her!"
"Maybe she just needed a break?" The blond tried to reason, but she knew deep down that it wasn't the case. Mads had a few conversations with Mal about how to deal with the media and she would sometimes come over to her and Esme's dorm just to hide from the world for a few hours.
I should have known. That was the conclusion the Goddaughter came up with. There were many signs that there was something wrong, but Madelyn didn't notice. She was a bad friend.
"I have to go there and apologize. I have to go there and... and beg her to come back."
"Ben you'll never find her," Evie argued, "You need to know the Isle and how it works and-"
Ben turned away to face the window. Madelyn's hand fell back to her side, her thoughts full of worry and sympathy for Mal. Even though she was born into the fame and god-like lifestyle, it was still exhausting, so for Mal it must have been terrible.
"You have to take me with you."
"Yes! Uh, are... are you sure?" Ben immediately agreed with the idea, but soon he hesitated. Evie nodded, "Yeah, she's my best friend."
"And for that reason, I am coming too."
"No." Ben didn't like the idea of something happening to Mads, she was like his sister.
Madelyn rolled her eyes, "Benny Boy, you're my best friend, and I'm not letting you go without me."
"I- fine."
The blond smiled triumphantly and the blue haired girl flashed her a thankful smile before speaking, "And, we'll bring the boys too, because there's safety in numbers and none of us are too popular over there right now."
"Thank you," But Evie ignored him and turned to face the pair once again, "But, let's set two things straight. You have to promise me that I won't get stuck there, again."
"I promise," Ben said, and Mads nodded, "You won't get rid of us that easily, Eves." The vk smiled at her blond friend, holding onto her hand before continuing, "And there's no way that you guys are going looking dressed like that."
Madelyn knitted her brows as she looked down her outfit. She was wearing a light, white sundress with matching five inch heels. What? The girl was 5'2.
