With your teeth clenched you squeezed your eyes shut and took a deep breath. This wasn't the time to panic. You needed to remain calm and wait.
Yorinobu would send a rescue team. Arasaka had many recourses, no matter if merchants or their own soldiers that are trained to protect whoever they were ordered to.
As a member of the Arasaka family, your safety was top priority. It wouldn't take long for them to find you. A few minutes, perhaps.
Until then, you had to stay calm and try to protect yourself.
Your eyes opened a crack wide to check out what was going on on top of the roof.
The steps were now more clear, louder and even a bit sloppier. It wasn't the same person from before. This one had to be bigger than the first.
"So there are at least two...", you concluded to keep your mind busy.
More steps, some right above your head while others roamed around more. As if one of them was calm and content and the other all over the place.
For the first time since you've noticed you weren't alone anymore, the flying vehicle let a warning pop up. Extra weight on the roof, the screen read. Please seek mechanical support.
Annoyed, you let out a hiss.
"That came quick.", you snarled and tried once more to claim back the AI of the board computer. "Stupid tech."
Once more your access code was asked for. And again you refused to put it in. It proposed a threat. If your access data were to be stolen the thieves could also abuse them to get into certain parts of Arasaka tower.
Perhaps a rivalling influence would be able to lock out the attackers from within the system but for that you needed a connection to the cyberspace. An easy task for people with common cybernetic implants there days.
But you didn't have any implants. You'd need an old fashioned connection via cable and another outlet source that wasn't within the system of the flying vehicle. A phone or a tablet would have been enough.
Of course you had nothing on hand since Hanako had asked you not to bring anything. She was afraid that Yorinobu could track your location and take it the wrong way when her and your signal were within the same radius.
In moments like these you regretted to be made of flesh.
Again, the position on the roof changed.
Your gaze jumped to the window. And all of a sudden your heart skipped a beat.
"Fuck!", it slipped off your lips.
In the exact same moment the door of the flying vehicle burst open. The shockwave flooded the small inside. Glasses crashed to the ground. Thousands of small shards filled the air.
The force threw you back against the board computer. It was so harsh that you couldn't help but scream in pain as the screen shattered under your weight.
The vehicle moved and for a slim moment it felt like it was about to fall from the sky. Your heath jumped, made you feel weightless for a second.
It felt like you couldn't breathe.
Everything was darkened with smoke. It scratched in your lungs whenever you tried to take a breath. Almost like mustard gas.
Blinded, you pushed yourself into a corner, arms raised for protection.
All of a sudden hands reached out for you. They were rough, almost as if the palms weren't human but made of metal. As you tried to shake them off, they wrapped their fingers tighter around you.
"Easy, chica!", a rough voice chuckled, both overwhelmed yet worried that something could go wrong. "You're gonna damage the goods."
"Fuck off, Jackie!", a female voice hissed, strained and audibly trying to concentrate on the task at hand. "We gotta dip. Now!"
Someone pulled you to your feet. A gust of air caressed your face.
Your eyes opened a crack wide. Silhouettes appeared, embraced by smoke and bright light.
Dust covered their details, yet it was easy to tell how they looked. Both of them seemed to be very distinctive personalities, one dressed like a narco with a leather jacket and a bullet belt strapped around his waist.
The woman, as weird and colourful as she was, still appeared to be a better match to the cities essence than her partner. She wore her short blue dyed hair in a bob cut that reached just down to her chin.
She was thin and athletic, not as intimidating as the man though who had shoulders so broad that he could have rivalled Adam Smasher with them.
He seemed not to be too eager to touch you because as the woman push you towards him, his grip felt hesitant. Golden bracelets shimmered on his wrist.
You managed to catch a glimpse at his face. Wires and cyberware. And his nose had a golden bandage clipped to the bridge. A purely aesthetic modification, yet one that wasn't all too common.
We should get outa here, chica!", his voice vibrated in his throat, a hint of a firefly attitude behind it. "Vamamos! Don't waste time."
The woman roamed around the interior. She was looking for something, her eyebrows drawn together while wrinkles covered her forehead.
"Dex said he'd pay extra for good intel.", she pulled out a cord from behind her ear and plugged it into the board computer.
"Fuck the extra money the cash is good!", his eyes jumped from the woman to you and then outside. "V! This is Saka shit. Don't get in deeper than we have to!"
Annoyed, the woman frowned.
"Big bucks are big bucks.", she did a gesture. "Pass on the goods, I'll handle this."
Your heart beat all the way up to your throat. Your entire body was frozen. All you could do was stand and stare like a scared animal in the headlights.
It felt like you weren't part of you own body no more, watching from afar. His grip around you felt so cold, almost like a knife to your throat.
A low sound of displeasure escaped his throat. But he did not complain any further. So without a warning he pushed you out of the vehicle.
