𝒮𝑜𝓊𝓁𝓈 𝐼𝓃 𝒯𝒾𝓂𝑒 [A Statehuman Story]

A day outside

America was in the kitchen preparing himself some coffee, when he heard a very loud thud coming from upstairs, he looked behind him and saw that several states were sneaking back into the living room.

He sighed and walked behind then quietly trying to scare them, "shut up Wisconsin, dad's gonna hear us.!" Said Vermont. "Guys?" Said America, they turned around and stayed silent.

"What are you doing..?" He asked them, "we just wanted to see them again.." said Wisconsin, the events of last night had brought curiosity amongst everyone.

"Wait till they wake up, while that happens how about some pancakes?" He said walking back to the kitchen with the two kids at his side, "yes!" They both said and started to get the mix and ingredients.

A knock on the door was heard, Georgia woke up and walked towards it, she opened it slightly. The light from the hallway was on and it was pretty early in the morning so she didn't want any light to get inside the room and wake up her siblings.

He squinted at whoever was there, a white state looked at her and then to his side, he looked back at her and she seemed pretty confused.

"Good morning Georgia.." he whispered, "who are you..?" She asked him, he seemed a little hurt at first but introduced himself either way, "my name is Rhode Island, you can call me Rhode though, everyone does" he whispered.

Georgia nodded and yawned, "why did you knock..?" She asked him, "we wanted to see if you were awake, dad made some pancakes!" He said, Georgia had never heard of the word pancakes she was curious and slipped out of the room closing the door quietly.

"Come on, you seem hungry" said Rhode, they both walked downstairs and into the kitchen, Georgia gasped at the size of the kitchen table it seemed that everyone had an assigned seat on the table, America saw her and he smiled, "good morning Georgia, how did you sleep?" He asked her, she simply nodded and looked hesitantly at the kitchen table.

"Your seat is over here" said America, she sat down next to a girl and another boy, they introduced themselves, again, to her, one was Kentucky and the other was Maryland.

"Hello Georgia" said Maryland, she seemed pretty startled by the sudden appearance, "hello.." said Georgia, she looked at her plate and saw two pancakes on her plate, he saw that everyone was using a fork. She saw one at the side of her plate and grabbed it.

She took a bite, her eyes immediately lit up as the taste of the honey filled her mouth, Maryland saw this and she laughed a little of how fast Georgia was now eating the pancakes, when she finished Maryland offered her a glass of orange juice, Georgia drank it and smiled.

"That was so good!" She said, their father laughed, "do you want more?" He asked her, "yes please!"

It was the afternoon, everyone was either outside or inside, America was helping Georgia with her shoes, all eleven had already taken a bath, their burn marks were still black and they we're going to stay like that.

Whenever he saw how skinny they were he insisted they ate a little more, no one object when Georgia told them how good the food tasted. "Texas?" Said America whenever most of the kids were out of sight except Georgia and Tennessee who were waiting for him.

He looked up at his father, "what happened?" He said, Georgia had now left with Tennessee after North Carolina went looking for them.

"Who did all these injuries on you?" He asked him, he already in knew it had been his brother but he still wanted to know.

"I'm not comfortable telling.." he said, he took a few steps back. "Its ok then, you can go outside now, I bet Georgia and Tennessee are waiting for you" he chuckled.
