Ancient Secret, Inner Emerald

Opal Eyes

The kit was in a sobbing mess on her couch when she first welcomed him in.

It got worse after she asked where Sonic was.

She wrapped him up in a blanket and gave him some warm tea. She worked on the pie she'd been preparing in the kitchen until the soft sobs quieted down.

"Ready to talk?" She asked gently.

The fox kit nodded.

"So, what happened with Sonic?"

The boy sniffed before starting. "He got hit with some new tech Eggman salvaged from Starfall Islands."

"And you guys didn't tell me?!" She cried indignantly. She was around, she could've helped!

"He didn't want me to!" The fox defended "you know how he is."

She sighed loudly but nodded. Oh yeah, she knew how he was. He was stubborn, bullheaded, and self sacrificing. He was the perfect storm of avoiding injuries.

"Anyways, when he got hit it turned his arm all weird and ghostly, it was kinda glowy and white and it'd flicker randomly."

"He was insistent that it was fine, and all my scans said he was clear."

"Even though his arm was gone?"

"Exactly! That's what I thought, it was weird."

"For sure, but what happened after that?"

"Well we got into another fight with Eggman and we got separated for a bit. When he came back he took a hit for me and..."

The pink hedgehog waited patiently with expectant eyes. Tails shook his head before continuing.

"He- vanished. His entire body dissolved into the same opal color and then disappeared. When everything died down there was a chaos emerald where he'd been standing."

"No way." She gasped.

Tails nodded. "I tried to grab it but before I could even reach it Eggman's machine sucked it up and he flew off."

Amy wrapped her arms around the fox. It was a lot to take in, one of her best friends had been- like- disintegrated and she hadn't even been there to do anything.

Even worse the very friend request she didn't know because he didn't want her there.

But Tails needed support more than she did right now. And she had plenty to give.

"While sonic was off distracting some of the Buzz Bombers though I think I finally recognized what robot Eggman was using."

"Really?" She asked, pulling away.

He pulled out the Miles Electric and started tapping away at it until an image of a strange robot showed up.

It was shaped almost like a UFO... or a penguin.

It had a flat top that funneled down with two curved arms at the side. The spire also had ring shapes around it that could pop out.

"What is that thing? I didn't see any bots like that on my island."

The fox hummed and nodded.

"This, is Capture." He stated. "They only showed up on Ares Island and Ouranos."

Amy nodded along.

"They didn't attack, but they did steal the emeralds Sonic had by attracting chaos energy."

"No way- seriously?"

Tails nodded his head and pulled up a video he'd managed to transfer through cyberspace.
