As I made my way back to where my guests was seated. I heard heavy breathing and soft sniffles. Athens, I knew instantly who it was. As the lounge became visible, I heard quiet whispers. With his hand on Athens's shoulder, Calvin knelt next to her paralyzed body. Kacy, who was crouching on the ground next to Athens's coiled body, grasped her hand. Oli did nothing but sit on the couch and tug at his hair with his hands.

Clearly, he was panicked at what to do.

The sight of the young woman in distress broke my heart. at times I couldn't help but stare at how upset and powerless she appeared to be. With my arms hanging at my sides, I also felt helpless.

For her, I had no idea what to do. In an instant, I would gladly accept every bit of suffering, heartbreak, and abuse. to release her from the chains that appeared to bind her to the awful nightmares and the unwelcome memories. It would be wonderful if I could destroy everything that has ever hurt her. Still, I was unable to and felt motionless, unable to formulate any words. My heart ached desperately to hold her against my chest.

However, as soon as I moved to approach the shaken woman. She saw the movement clearly in the haze of her eyes, which were full of tears. She looked up at me, fear and terror in her eyes. Athens' eyes locked onto me, turning her face a startling white.

The pure terror danced in her glossy grey eyes, and I knew I was the blame for them tears. She was scared of me... She raised her hands tremblingly to wipe the tears from her flushed cheeks. I reached out to take her hand, but she squirmed away, causing me to lose my grip.

"Athens?" I was afraid that she was frightened of me, and my voice trembled at seeing her like this. She didn't want me near her, which is why I triggered the tears. I couldn't even console her about the nightmare I had triggered. It's my responsibility; I ought to have understood what I was doing. I gave in to my rage and lost control. I frightened the woman who has grown to be the most wonderful aspect of my life; she made me happy every morning, and now I have destroyed what we had shared together.

Athens got to her feet fast, averting my eyes. She attempted to get around me and into the kitchen. But as I stopped her, I realized that I shouldn't have touched her or taken hold of her elbow.

Now, I was in a serious situation. I wanted her to give me a direct gaze. God, this woman with her swollen, sore eyes standing in front of me, I'm so greedy for her. Her body was trembling with fright, and my heart was falling apart. At last, she turned her head to look into my hurt eyes.

"Louis, please just let go." She tried so hard not to cry as she pled, her voice faltering. "Athens' let me explain." I bit my lower lip with my teeth as I begged, my voice cracking. I felt goosebumps creep up her sensitive flesh as I ran my fingertip over her bare arm.

She gave me several shakes of her head before slipping out of the the lounge and into the kitchen, and I let her get away from me. With her blonde ponytail swinging back and forth as she hurried out the door, my eyes followed her until she vanished around the corner and into the kitchen.

As soon as my hands found my joggers' pockets and I stuffed them into them, I tried not to scream in rage. No, I wasn't angry at Athens—well, maybe a little—because she won't talk to me about her upbringing, which makes her feel hurt and afraid. I was losing my composure and getting angry because my blood was boiling so much, and that's the last thing I want to do. However, my annoyance only kept growing, and I started to feel worn out.

"Louis...."Oli trailed off, sensing that I was attempting to gather my composure before losing my temper. "Why don't you....uh sit for a bit." At last, Oli made a suggestion, sensing my tense state of mind. I don't want to become angry or do something I would later regret. I chose to sit on the edge of a grey recliner instead.
