12 years later
After Lilianas program ended she was offered a second one. The second program lasted three years, and Liliana accepted.

Once that ended, Liliana was offered a full time job that payed well.

But the job was in Canada.

Liliana didn't come back.
She fell in love with Canada.
The environment, people, everything.

Draco visited her three times in the first four years.

Draco was offered a job as an auror after he turned 19. His tests scores were higher then anyone else's, and he knew all about dark magic and how to combat it.

But Draco's job was demanding. Dark magic was everywhere all the time. He eventually didn't find time to visit Liliana anymore.

Being an auror forced him to make sacrifices.
One of those sacrifices was Liliana.

After those first four years, they lost touch. Four more years passed.

Draco and Liliana didn't say a word to each other. No messages, no calls, no visiting.
It was like they were strangers.

Draco didn't have time for relationships anymore, but Liliana did.

During those four years Liliana met a guy named Eric, and they fell in love.

They dated for three years, and Liliana was happy. He treated her well.

Eric proposed to Liliana when they were 26, and she gladly accepted. Liliana felt she was ready to finally be married.

Then she had a dream.

In her dream she was at the alter. She was about to say I do to Eric. They were about to be tied to each other forever.

Then she looked into the crowd.
In the crowd she saw Draco.

Draco stared at her, but he didn't say a word.
Liliana woke up from the dream upset.

However Liliana was aware that her and Draco could never be together. Their lives didn't match anymore.

So she went on with the wedding.

The wedding was tiny, and she reconnected with her family, Lucas, Amelia, and their parents all at once.

She was happy on her wedding,
but not satisfied.

Draco got an invitation to her wedding.
He never showed up.

When Draco saw the invitation, he ripped it to shreds. He was angry at the world.

He remembered the talks they had before she left. They wanted to marry each other, start a family. But those dreams were gone.

Liliana wished him happy birthday for the first time that year. Draco blocked her immediately.

He couldn't handle knowing she was out there married to someone who wasn't him.

Draco's loneliness took over, and he was thrown into this depressive state. He lost his job.

He still worked with aurors, but he didn't fight.
He flew across countries to pick up special potions, dragon eggs, armor, anything the aurors needed to fight.

Realistically Draco was rich from generational money, but he knew that if he quit his job he'd wither away.

Draco had no hobbies, or friends, work was the only thing keeping him alive.

He found himself free a lot of the time, but visiting Liliana never crossed his mind.

Liliana, and Eric decided it was time to try for kids. Liliana got pregnant three times.

But she miscarried all of them. She was absolutely heartbroken, and went to get tested.

Liliana had this gene, that made it difficult for her body to carry children.

Almost like she was infertile.

Liliana was devastated.

Eric wanted kids, but he didn't wanna adopt.
So the pair got divorced. They thought it was for the better, because Eric wasn't fully happy in the marriage.

But neither was Liliana.
Because Eric wasn't Draco.

Liliana was now alone. She spent everyday the same. Wake up, do her job, go to bed.

She also didn't have any friends, or hobbies.
And she had no motivation for those things.

She felt like her life was taken from her.
Her incapability to have children also ruined her. Her chances of having a baby were close to none, and it's been her dream forever.

Then she turned 30, and a memory struck her.
She remembered Draco saying if she wasn't married by 30, he'd marry her.

She indeed wasn't married, but Draco lost his intent to marry her.

Draco loved her, but he thought she had Eric.

It was December 24th today, and it was snowing hard in Toronto, Liliana's new home.

She sat in a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate in her hand. It was Christmas the next day, and she was spending it alone for the fourth year in a row. Liliana hated Christmas.

She remembered spending it with her family, and how happy she was.

But that wasn't possible anymore.

Draco also spent Christmas's alone.
He was especially busy on Christmas. He never became an auror again, but he still had to travel to get supplies.

Because most things were closed on Christmas, his schedule was extra messy.

Draco was exhausted, but not just physically. Liliana felt the same.

The two of them weren't living, they were merely surviving. They did what they had to.

Draco was bundled up in a jacket, as he arrived to his destination. The aurors had a dragon, who had recently died of old age.

As Liliana was spending her Christmas Eve in her pajamas, Draco was working.

Draco was sent to pick up a dragon egg.
He was sent to the home of a dragon breeder.

He finally arrived, and knocked on the door.
He shivered, as he waited for the answer.

Once he got the egg, he had to take a plane back. It was another eight hour flight which Draco wasn't looking forward too.

But at least he could sleep.
Merlin knows he needed to sleep.

The door finally opened, and a girl in pajamas opened the door with a dragon egg in her hands.

Draco's eyed widened, and the girl almost passed out.

But she kept awake, because if Liliana passed out she would've dropped the egg.
