juniper sat with betty in a room at the school. juniper watched betty as if she was the most fascinating thing in the world, while betty wrote some stuff down. betty had told juniper about the football team having some sort of playbook and how they keep score on the girls at riverdale high. she felt super self-conscious when betty told her that. the only thing on her mind was what chuck had bribed her into doing the year before.
"come on. it's just for fun. nobody will know either," pleaded chuck. juniper stared at the ground as she sat next to chuck on the bed. "i don't know, chuck. what if one of us lets it slip," said juniper, fiddling with her fingers. "i promise, i won't tell anyone," said chuck. juniper stayed silent, looking at anything other than him. he sighed and pulled out a roll of cash. "i'll pay you. i know you need the money, juniper. just take the damn roll, and get it over with," said chuck, talking in a quiet, stern, deep voice. it was terrifying. juniper stared at the money. how did he know she needed it? "..fine," juniper gave in. "good. now. just follow my lead, baby. i'll be gentle," whispered chuck, as he climbed on top of juniper.
when juniper found out about the bulldogs playbook, she got scared. what if chuck wrote in it about her. about what happened and how she was. how she looked and how she felt. when she cried in the middle of it because of how bad it hurt. chuck wasn't rude about it. he let her calm down, and they continued. but a part of juniper just felt like something important was taken from her that night. she hated herself for that night. and the thing was, that she believed that only her and chuck knew. but she was dead wrong. and she knew it.
a knock on the door frame made juniper jump and betty look up. "ethel," said betty, softly. juniper melted. "betty, you know trev brown, right? valerie's brother," asked ethel. juniper waved and smiled at ethel and trev. "hey, what's up," waves trev. betty laughs out a hey. "he used to be on the football team," said ethel. "but i quit. when i saw chuck's playbook. and i may know where it is," trev said.
