'it's been a week since the discovery of jason blossom's body. but his death is not the first, nor would it be the last casualty that the town of riverdale would suffer. the twilight drive-in where i and juniper work, our home away from home, a piece of town history, is closing for good, just when we needed a place to escape to the most. with sheriff keller knocking on every door and neighbor suspecting neighbor, riverdale, everyday that passes, is becoming more like salem during the witch trials. meanwhile, the girl next door, our friendly neighborhood hitchcock blonde, betty cooper, was wrestling with the knowledge that her best friend, archie andrews, was caught up in a forbidden romance.'

"dear diary, sheriff keller doesn't know what i know, that riverdale high's music teacher, geraldine grundy, was at sweetwater river the morning jason blossom went missing, and that since archie was also there, they could have been there together," betty's diary wrote.

"the drive-in closing is just one more nail in the coffin that is riverdale... no forget riverdale, in the coffin of the american dream," ranted jughead. juniper's eyes widened sarcasticly. it's not that big of a deal. "as the godfather of-of-of indie cinema, quentin tarantino, likes to say..." kevin cuts off jughead. "please, god, no more quentin tarantino references," said kevin. "what? i'm pissed. and not just about losing my job. the twilight drive-in should mean something to us. people should be trying to save it," pushed jughead. juniper shrugged and sipped on her milkshake. "in this age of netflix, and vod, do people really wanna watch a movie in a car? i mean, who even goes there," asked veronica. "people who want to buy crack," said kevin, as juniper laughed. "and cinephiles, and car enthusiasts. right, bets," asked jughead. betty finally seemed into the conversation. juniper smiled slightly at her.

"totally," betty said, softly. "anyway, it's closing because the town owns it, but didn't invest in it. so when an anonymous buyer made mayor mccoy an offer, she couldn't refuse..." veronica cuts off jughead. what's up with people cutting off jughead?? "anonymous buyer? what do they have to hide? no one cares," chuckled veronica. "i do," said the twins, jughead with a more urgent tone and juniper with a more calm one. "also, you guys should all come to closing night. i'm thinking "american graffiti." or is that too obvious," said juniper. "i vote for everything starring audrey hepburn. or cate blanchett," said veronica. "or the talented mr. ripley. betty, your choices," asked kevin. "everything ok, b," asked veronica. "yeah, i'm just thinking. um... maybe rebel without a cause," asked betty. jughead and betty look at each other smiling and snickering. juniper looked at them both. glaring into their eyes. did that night mean nothing?

juniper was trying so hard not to cry until archie, his dad, and ms. grundy walked into pop's. "now, that's an odd combo of people," said kevin. juniper, jughead, and betty looked to the people. "i'll be right back," said betty. "no, betty," said jughead. "no. don't..." said juniper reaching towards her. betty got up and started to walk over to the three that walked in. "wait, what's happening," asked kevin. the 4 watched betty and archie walk outside and talk. "what's happening out there? do we know? is it about me," asked veronica. "not everything is about you, v," said juniper, kevin peeking over her shoulder. "i have a strong inkling, and no. also, i'd let it go," said jughead. "yes, but you're you, and i'm me. you do you, girl, i'll be back," said veronica, getting out of the booth. "what was it like before she got here? i honestly cannot remember," said kevin. juniper hopped out of the booth and chased after veronica.

"are you and ms. grundy, like, together, like, romantically," juniper heard betty say. "oh my god. you and your music teacher are having an affair," asked veronica. "we are... together. look, i know that sounds bad, but..." veronica cuts off archie. "bad? it sounds scandalous," said veronica. "it sounds like jail time to me. illegal," exclaimed betty. "betty, don't go there," said archie. "oh, i'm already there," said betty. "ronnie, a little help here? jun," asked archie. "i mean, technically, betty's right. and ethically. well, what is grundy to you, anyway, your girlfriend," asked veronica. "your booty tutor," asked juniper, trying not to chuckle a bit. archie sighed an, "oh my god." "i don't know. i don't know what to call her," said archie. "you said you were at the river alone. you lied to sheriff keller, to all of us. why? to protect her," asked betty. "she believed in me when no one else did," said archie. "that's a far stretch, buddy," juniper said, getting upset. "okay, we get it," said veronica. "betty, say something, please," said archie.

the 4 heard a car honk as betty's mom pulled up. "get in the car, betty. now," alice said. betty shrugged and got into the car. juniper ran into pop's before her mom could see her. she didn't wanna see her mom, even after what betty and juniper had done together.
