CAFFINE

My beautiful fir tree surrounded village with its large fire pits, wooden structures, laughing children, music drifting on the wind, friendly faces and freshly baked bread has been replaced by large buildings, colour on every corner, strange faces and languages, smells of fresh and rotten food, straw roofs and barely any plant life!

This is the village of Caffine.
I've been for a while now having travelled from the village for days this was the first place I came across, and have yet to leave! It's classed as a small merchants village but it doesn't feel small. It  feels huge compared to the village.
The buildings are mostly the same size as the ones in the village but some are bigger like the place I'm currently staying in. Its a tavern called "Green Willows", my room is very basic, small but its warm and clean. I earn my keep by playing my flute in the evenings and helping with odd jobs, the flute seems to have been somewhat successful especially with the merchants and travellers who have passed through and not heard many elven songs, or not wood elf ones at least.
The village itself is actually built around a cross road making it perfect for travellers and merchants alike. I love listening to the stories the merchants tell, they tend to stay a few days at a time before heading to the next town. Some come back regularly others not quiet as regular depending on where they are going. One day I will leave Caffine as well and head in any direction ready for my next adventure but theres so much to see and hear here that I am currently reluctant to move anywhere else!

I did receive a message today from my village elders saying they had received the furs I sent them and the materials are being used to craft new garments ready for the winter festival - how I'm going to miss that. Tall fires, furs of every colour worn, the jingle of bells welcoming the winter spirits, the herbs being burnt for protection, the children all fighting to be the first for hot apple drinks, maybe I will send them some of the crystals I have seen in shop windows and some of the herbs for extra protection.
