The Apartment

*Y/N POV*

"It's my third night shift of the month and so far I'm enjoying this job more than the previous. I'm not sure why I never thought of taking a job like this sooner. All I have to do is sit back at my desk behind a computer screen and regularly check on security cameras throughout the night. Best part about this is that no one ever comes here at this time so I can relax and still get paid!"

I leaned back in my chair with my arms crossed behind my head.

*Ding*

Surprised by the break of silence, I got up and peered over at the elevator to find a woman frantically exiting out. She paced over to my desk with sweat dripping down her face and a worried look on her face.

"Can I help you?", I asked in confusion.

She quickly looked around while catching her breath.

"I-I think there's something wrong with this apartment", she stuttered.

I stared at her blankly before snapping myself out of it.

"Something... wrong?"

"Y-Yes"

"What do you mean?"

"I-I just don't think this apartment is... safe"

It was clear to me that this woman was troubled by something but nothing that came out of her mouth was making any sense to me.

"Could you please elaborate?"

"I'm saying this place is not safe enough!"

At this point it felt like she hadn't come to me to ask for help but rather to complain to me about how shitty this apartment was because I was the only source of security here. But what does she expect from a run down place like this?

"Ma'am, please calm down. I can assure you that this place is safe. I am regularly checking security cameras on every level to ensure that everyone can have a nice and peaceful night"

I inattentively brushed her off but she didn't seem too happy about it.

"You don't get it!"

The woman slammed down her key card, ID and documents onto my desk and stormed off back towards the elevator.

"Tch! What's her problem?"

I picked up her ID and looked at it.

"Hirai Momo"

I looked up at the computer showing the security footage of Momo walking into the elevator. I sighed heavily before opening her documents.

She had already signed it and was ready to leave.

"I guess she really doesn't like it here..."

As I looked through the rest of the document, I noticed a faint line under several different letters on the page.

"Hmm?"

The first immediate thought that came to my head was to grab a pencil and write down each letter that had been underlined.

"H...e...l...."

I gulped as I finished writing the rest of the letters.

"Help... Please...?"

I frowned as my heart began pumping fast. Was this some kind of prank?

I looked up at my computer to find Momo no longer in the elevator.

Quickly grabbing her key card for her room number, I searched through the different levels until I reached hers.
