Chapter 9 Do You Like Boys or Girls?

Rohan watched as his eldest sister Jinora led a group of air benders practice a move that was too advanced for him to follow. As his eyes tried to follow all the movements Rohan did not notice Kai sit next to him.

"Watching them bend is breathtaking, it makes me forget that I can do that too." Kai looked at his hands and how there were no arrows on them, he gave a tired sigh but Rohan spoke up.

"I want to bend like Princess Yun." Rohan said in a voice filled with determination.

"Who is that? I don't pay attention to important people in air bending except Jinora." Rohan just rolled his eyes ignoring the last part about his sister. Kai just smiled at the boy but noticed that Jinora finished teaching and quickly gave Rohan a pat on his head. "Sorry Ro, but your sister and I have to practice too." He quickly stood up and jogged over to his girlfriend.

Rohan just gave a defeated sigh as he stood up and continued to walk toward the dock. He knew that Asami would be there she always was when Korra had to leave to do "Avatar business." As Rohan skipped down toward the dock he saw black hair and started running towards Asami.

"BOO!" Rohan screamed as he jumped on top of Asami wrapping his arms around her.

Asami just gave a small laugh at Rohan's failed attempt to scare her. She quickly wiped the tears from her face and turned around to face the boy. "Hey Rohan you scared the spirits out of me." She quickly wrapped an arm around him and tickled him. "I'll tickle the spirits out of you!"

As soon as Asami stopped tickling him Rohan noticed how red Asami's eyes were. "Are you sad that Korra is gone again Asami?" The smile on her face fell and no matter how hard she tried to force it back on it would not stay. Rohan grabbed Asami's hand even though his hand could not hold the engineers whole hand. Rohan didn't like seeing Asami sad and tried to make her laugh like Korra did.

"You know what's crazy Asami? You dated Mako...AND then HE dates KORRA! AND NOW YOU'RE DATING KORRA." Rohan had the biggest smile on his face like he cracked a secret code. "But I have a question."

"And what would that be?" Asami said as she gave a small laugh.

"Do you like girls or boys?"

Asami's face turned red. Rohan was only five. How could she explain this to a five year old?! "I liked Mako...but then I stopped liking Mako."

"Then what?" The little boy said as he just played with Asami's hair.

"Then I liked Korra...then I stopped liking Korra. Because it turned out that I loved her." Asami said with a smile on her face. "Rohan you know you can like whoever you want right?"

Rohan just nodded and continued twirling the raven black hair with his hand. "Gran Gran told me that, everyone needs a person like how you need Korra. And how she needs you. Bolin has Opal, Jinora has Kai, Mommy has daddy....and I have my stories." Rohan beamed at Asami signaling that he wanted a story.

Asami sighed, "Well if you want a story so bad...Do you want to know about Korra having a crush on Mako?"

Rohan jumped up and down in excitement, "Please tell me Asami, pleaseeeee"

"Ask Korra when she comes back home she'll tell you." Asami said with a small smile.

"How long will Korra be gone? Is she going to miss my birthday?" Rohan asked in a sad tone.

"I know she's been gone for a while but she'll be back for your birthday and she'll have the coolest gift for you."

"You promise Asami?"

"I promise Rohan."

"Now I can get my turtle duck! I'll name it Yun! Like the princess! And I can teach it how to do tricks!"

Asami just smiled as she heard Rohan go on and on about turtle ducks, wishing that Korra was there.
