-Lucy POV-

The lights flicker and buzz as I enter the room. It's been a while since either of us have come back to the old apartment but it hasn't been that long, god this place really is a bit of a heap. It's funny how it always works out like this, once we move to a new place it feels like a penthouse in comparison to what we'd left behind, at least it's always been an upgrade.

Just being here was making me miss the new place but after the whole WarpDancer conversation and the bit at the end with Maine... I needed to collect my thoughts. When we moved the place was pretty much furnished with new stuff, we never really had anything in the last place anyways. Aside from a few pairs of clothes each and Taylor's car we didn't really own much, there wasn't a lot that either of us really wanted I guess, not that we really had the freedom to 'want' before. Even though we didn't have much I do know of one thing that Taylor kept, one thing that he never brought over, one thing that still had to be here.

Carefully making my way into the apartment and over to the small bed in the far corner I can't help but glance nervously over my shoulder. Taylor and I have been friends for a long time, hell for the longest time he was the only friend I had, and in all that time we've never really had any fights. Even despite that the closest we've ever come is the last time I went through this stuff, It wasn't as though he was mad, just... hurt almost, like it was something that had embarrassed him, but even now I don't know why.

Slowly dropping down to my knees at the edge of the bedframe I take one last cautious look towards the door. Finding the coast to be clear I turn back to the task at hand before practically jumping out of my skin as a call begins to ring in my ears. Taking a deep breath and rubbing my face in embarrassment I answer the call.

"Hey luce." Taylor mumbles on the other end of the call.

"H-Hey Tay, everything okay?" I cough, trying to regain my composure after the jump scare I'd just dealt with.

"Yea... Everything good with you? You sound shook."

"Just got done jogging, no worries."

"Ah, Just wanted to give you a heads up, I may be back a bit late tonight so no need to wait up. If you start to doze feel free to crash, alright?"

Huh, he didn't have anything else to say? Normally he's impossible to sneak anything past, catching lies is something he's always been able to do. Was he just letting it go, or did he really buy the 'jogging' line? I'm not even sure which would be worse, but if he's coming home late, and really didn't notice...

"Yea sure, what uh... What do you got planned?" I Turn, leaning back against the bed.

A pause follows, it can't have been all that long but it felt like an eternity of just listening to the ambience of the apartment building around me. The various talking and shouting voices from the rooms around me, the stomping from the floor above and the music from the floor below. Despite all the racket the loudest noise was the buzzing in my head as the silence drug on. Finally a reply comes through.

"Met up with Sasha after I left the Doc's place. Asked me... asked me to show her the old place." His response is flat, it doesn't sound like he feels strongly about what he's doing one way or the other but I'm sure if I could see his face it'd be a whole different story.

"Like the 'old' old place?"

"Yea." He sighs.

"Are you sure everything's alright? You haven't gone back in years, I thought you hated it there."

"Definitely not my favorite place to chill."

"Then why're you going?"

"Honestly? I'm not really sure. She asked and I kinda just... said yes. Still not really sure why."
