"Well

"Well... Who're you?~"

A long silence follows leaving only the sound of our respective heavy breathing, eyes locked on one another, tensed in the anticipation of what comes next. I rack my brain in the brief pause.

Who is she?

Someone from the bar? Nah, I'd remember her.

An old mark? Chick's got a unique style, face is recognizable too, wouldn't forget that.

Another fixer's goon? Wouldn't make sense to send a single runner to flatline my ass.

What if-

"You're younger than I thought you'd be, smaller too."

"And thats a real creepy opener." I cock an eyebrow at the remark, standing up straight. Not what I was expecting to hear, but atleast that means she must've been the same runner from before if she's talking like she was looking for me. "So what else aside from age and size were you hoping to find out then? Can't imagine that's all you wanted if you're chasin me all over the city like I owed you eddies."

"Clever too, cute." The distorted sarcasm adds just a little extra weight to her retort. Slowly raising her hands to her sides she relaxs, only ever so slightly, letting out a sigh. "Not looking to start a fight."

"Odd way to say 'hello', poking at my head like that."

"What can I say, I was curious."

"About what?" I take a cautious step forward. I trust the ICE but I've always been the nervous sort, I've got no idea what this woman can do. Letting her have to much distance is a risk, and I can't afford to be courteous in this position.

"Word on the street is that the old bat Wakako has a new boy-toy coming and going every couple days. Young guy, short dark hair, cut-off shirts sporting a serious set of cyber arms," Nodding in my direction. I lift my hands out infront of me with a small grin. "In and out without a word to anyone and nobody knows much about em."

"Boy-toy? Lady I'm a professional, much more expensive than your average street walker, but more than worth it." She groans, apperently being rushed down doesn't leave you with much of your sense of humor intact.

"Anyways, I looked a little more. Turns out said 'boy-toy' is a regular with most of the fixers around town, hopping district to district. Nobody has much to say, but those who do always have some variation of 'young merc who'll handle anything', which is whats odd."

"That a 'young merc' is desperate enough to take any job? You might be on to something,  just have to see whats up with every other edgerunner in Night city." I chide, curious indeed, but it doesn't feel like she's the type to track me down for basic rumors, I don't like this...

"You're right, do what you can to get by, I get that. No, what's odd is that you can't possibly do everything yourself. Every job is a lock; Busting through em works most of the time, but every so often you need a key."
