i sat in shock, still holding onto my grazed arm as sarah started whimpering in pain. john b quickly grabbed his bandana and unwrapped it around his neck. he leaned over me to sarah. "i need you to push down, okay?" he said quickly, putting the bandana on her shot wound. "this is gonna hurt but i need you to push down." sarah gasped in pain as he pushed slightly. tears filled my eyes as i took the bandana with my free hand and pushed down more. "i know it hurts, but we have to stop the bleeding."

sarah looked at me with tears in her eyes as some fell from mine. "call terrance!" i shouted to john b. "it's gonna be okay, i promise. try to stay still." i said to sarah as she whimpered profusely.

john b whipped out his phone and called terrance, but i couldn't here what terrance was saying. "hey, look, we got it." john b said. "but listen we have bigger problems. sarah's been shot, and spencer got grazed." i heard terrance's voice on the phone. "she's been shot in the gut. we need help. we're up in the cane field, about a mile up to the left. i'll drop a pin, i don't know how to get here. hurry."

he hung up the phone as looked to john b with tears streaming down my face. "are they coming?" i asked, crying hysterically.

john b nodded and unwrapped my bandana from my neck and grabbed my arm. i yelled in pain as he wrapped it around my graze. "same thing, push down. its gonna hurt but we need to stop the bleeding." he explained. i nodded as i kept holding his bandana on sarah.

she was breathing heavily as terrance and cleo showed up, basically throwing themselves out of the car as john b helped sarah out, and i held onto my arm. terrance ran up to me and patted my shoulder and looked to john b. "i texted you the address of a doctor. tell him i sent you." he shouted and looked to me. "you'll be okay, sweetie."

john b rushed sarah to the other truck without the gold. "okay, and it's a hospital right?" he asked quickly as cleo helped him with sarah.

terrance shook his head. "no. you wanna get caught?" he said back cockily.

john b scoffed, helping sarah sit down. "i don't really give a shit if we're caught, t. they both need medical help." he replied.

i sat in the backseat of the truck, rubbing sarah's shoulder with my only free hand. "he's better than of the doctor's in that shitcan. he's my guy. he's got ya." i heard terrance say as he grabbed onto sarah's hand. "you're gonna be okay. just relax, breathe. everything's good." terrance looked to me and john b. "we're gonna meet at the wharf in eight hours. no more. it's hot as hell out there." john b nodded as he started up the truck.

terrance left and cleo gave back john b the gold. "you're gonna need some money." she said quickly then looked to me and sarah. "take care of my girls, john b. you guys are fighters, hold on!" she shouted before going with terrance.

john b quickly reversed the truck and spun it around, pulling up the doctor's location terrance had sent him. i sat in the back, my hand was covered with me and sarah's blood. john b drove as quick as he could, trying to avoid crashing into cars. "w-what if they take the gold?" sarah managed to sputter out.

john b looked between sarah and the road. "look, screw the gold, sarah." he replied worriedly. "i'll take care of you. we're getting you two to a doctor." the pain in my arm was getting worse as i let out a groan, making john b look back. "spencer, are you good?"

i nodded slightly, my hair sticking to my tears as john b sped down the road. he kept reassuring us that it was okay as i heard sarah's whimpers in the front. we arrived shortly after almost running over cars and people. i helped john b get sarah out with my free arm and wrapped her arm around my shoulders as john b pressed the buzzer to whoever the hell we were going to see. "what do you want?" a voice came out of the buzzer.

john b sputtered for a moment. "i'm looking for dr. nygard." he replied.

"dr. nygard's not here." the voice said back to john b.

john b sighed. "okay, well do you know where we can find him?" he asked quickly as sarah laid her head on my shoulder, crying.

"who are you?" the voice asked.

john b stopped for a moment before replying. "i'm a friend of terrance's." he said shortly. "look, my girlfriend and her sister have bee shot."

"aw, hell." the voice said rudely. i rolled my eyes, despite the pain. "there's a camera above to your left. look at it and let me see your faces." all three of us looked up, while john b waved at the camera. it moved as i saw the lenses zoom in. "alright, go through the bar. there's some stairs on your right."

i walked with sarah up the stairs with john b holding her other side. as we got to the top the doctor met us there and helped get sarah inside. "put her up on that table." he ordered as john b picked her up and laid her down.

i stood in the corner, crying to myself, not being able to watch what was going on. i heard john b yell a couple times as the doctor knocked sarah out with anesthesia. i sat in a chair, holding onto my arm, which stopped bleeding, and i closed my eyes, trying to tune out what was going on.

a couple hours later, i was shaken awake by someone. john b was sitting by sarah's side as he was holding her hand. i assumed the operation was done. the doctor kneeled down by me and unwrapped my bandana, showing a large graze that cut into my skin. "let's see..." the doctor mumbled as he touched it carefully and i winced in pain. "you're lucky you didn't get shot either."

i nodded slowly as he got up and came back with rubbing alcohol and stitches. he cleaned my wound carefully as i cried out. john b nodded to me and mouthed to me that everything's okay and that i was gonna be fine. tears slipped from the outer corners of my eyes as i felt the needle go into my skin, trying not to cry loudly.

i bit my lip hard as the doctor took ten minutes to sew my arm back. when he was done, he took a large bandage and put it over my stiches. i nodded as a thank you, and waited for sarah to wake up. i got up and sat next to john b. "how is she?" i whispered.

john b sighed, rubbing his eyes, looking like he was crying. "you missed a lot while you were sleeping." he replied softly, rubbing sarah's hand. "i don't know how you didn't wake up." i furrowed my eyebrows together. "sarah lost her pulse, but it came back."

i blinked a few times. "what?" i shouted as john b covered my mouth with his hand that wasn't holding sarah. he glared at me as he uncovered my mouth and chuckled, muttering something to himself. i chuckled a little and shook my head. "she's a fighter. she'd do anything for you, what a miracle."

the doctor tapped our shoulder and told us to come sit in his office. we chatted for a bit before i heard the door open. me and john b spun around, to see sarah standing up, looking exhausted. "how long have i been asleep." she asked tiredly.

john b chuckled as we stood up to help her stand. "not long enough." he replied, grabbing onto her arm.

sarah breathed heavily and looked to me. "can we still make it?" she asked quickly.

i looked up at the clock and nodded. "yeah, we have an hour before we need to be there." i replied. "and you need to go lie down, sister orders." john b nodded in agreement with me.

she looked down and took a deep breath before looking back up. "i am fine." she said sternly. "we're going."

i held my hands up in surrender as she lead the way out.
