I peered around the corner of the street, making sure Louis wouldn't see me. I sprinted across the road, making for a column by a small, shaded picnic table. I made it to my mark, and looked around again. I couldn't believe I was 16 and I was playing hide and go seek with my best friend. I looked to see if all was clear, and moved behind a tree. I heard footsteps coming down the road, I looked and saw Louis, jogging down the road, looking in every direction trying to find me.
"Ella! Come on out love!" he called. He ran in another direction, away from me. But apparently not, because the minute I stepped out, he tackled me to the ground, scaring the hell out of me, and making me scream.
"Louis! You scared me," I fake pouted. He sniggered, and helped me up.
"Sorry love, it was just a bit of fun," he said, giggling slightly. He was just as childish as the day I met him, and we were both turning 17 in about a month. As we walked home, he got many admiring glances from the girls in our neighborhood.
"Hey Louis, why don't you hang out with a girl that's not a freak?" I turned and saw my childhood bully, Eve Perez.
"You're hot, she's not, why do you even bother with a loser lime her?" I felt the tears threatening to spill, when Louis put an arm around me.
"Eve, I bother with her because she's my best friend. She's the only friend I have that deserves that title. You wouldn't know that though, considering you've gone through more "best friends" than all of the hobos in the area of Doncaster," he said with the sass I had grown to love. She walked away, looking incredibly insulted.
"Love, don't listen to her. She's just jealous that she can't play hide and go seek with me and you can." I giggled, and threw my arms around his neck. He hugged me back, and decided to flip me over onto his back.
"To war!" he shouted, charging down the street. He had me by my knees, and I held his shoulders, keeping myself steady as he ran with me on his back. When we neared my house, he put me down.
"See you at school tomorrow, love." He leaned down and kissed my cheek, as he had done since 7th grade. I waved and walked in the direction of my house. I unlocked the door, and walked in.
"Mum, dad, I'm home!" I called. I went straight up to my room, and closed the door. I sat in my chair by my dresser, and brushed through my long brown hair. I stared at my dark blue eyes, thinking about what Eve had said. Was it true? Was I a waste of Louis' time? I was sure he could do better, but he never bothered to find any other girl friends. I didn't really bothered bothered to make any girl friends or boy friends. Louis was all I ever needed.
"Ella! Supper!"
"Coming mum!" I raced down the stairs, and sat down at the table. My mum had made my favorite, tuna casserole. I scarfed it all down and ate until I was full. I slept easy that night, especially after I talked to Louis.
From Lou Lou: Goodnight love (: x
To Lou Lou: Sleep tight x
From Lou Lou: Don't let the bed bugs bite (: x
I smiled and put my phone away.
*Next Day*
"Louis Tomlinson! I said stay away from that horrible excuse for a daughter of Talia's!" Jay shouted. My window was opened, and I could hear them yelling back and forth.
"Mum, she's my best friend! I can't just leave her, she's got no one else!"
"Good! Scum don't deserve friends!"
"She's not scum! She never did anything to you!"
"She was born!" I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I heard Louis' bedroom door slam, and then silence. I looked out the window, and saw Louis, waiting for me to look back. My phone buzzed in my pocket.
From Lou Lou: I'm so sorry Ella. x
To Lou Lou: What's wrong with me? Everyone hates me x
From Lou Lou: I don't hate you, love. She's just upset about that thing with your mum in high school x
To Lou Lou: But why does she hate me so much? x
From Lou Lou: I've not the slightest idea x
To Lou Lou: See you at school. x
From Lou Lou: See you love (: x
I put my phone in the pocket of my skinny jeans, wiped my tears, and went downstairs.
"Morning Ella," my mom called from the kitchen.
"Morning." I walked into the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal.
When I finished and washed my bowl, I went back upstairs and braided my hair down the side, applied and a little eyeliner, and brushed my teeth. After all of that, I walk downstairs, call bye to my mom, and head outside, where Louis waits for me.
"Morning love," he says with a smile. He's a really sweet guy, even after getting yelled at by his mum. When we get to school, the fun begins. I'm told I'm not worth Louis' time, that he could do 10,000 times better than me. He ignores it, but it really hurts. He knows it gets to me, so he comforts me.
"It's alright love, don't let it get to you. They're just jealous," he said, rubbing my back.
"Of what? The only thing they're jealous about is that I'm your best friend," I cried. He chuckled lightly, and kissed my head.
"Exactly. They're jealous because you're my beautiful best friend that I've known since kindergarten, and that they're not worth my time. Just think, I could've become friends with one of them, but I chose you." This comforted me a little, he's so sweet to me.
Hey guys! I hope you like it so far! More to come on that, as soon as I get home from school. (:
