Last Chapter

A- What is going on? Kaka, why are you so calm? Wait a minute, did you know this?

Kaka- Yes. He said calmly.

Binoy- Not only Da, but all of us knows.

A- Then all the rituals, engagement?

B- Drama. She said calmly.

A- Drama? He spoke softly.

Bondita nodded.

 K- Yes Anirudh. Everything you saw was a drama planned by Bondita. I love Bondita but as friend and as a sister. She was close to me since she was small. When I found out what you did to her in the name of her bright future, I was angry. I wanted to confront you. But Bondita stopped me. 

Anirudh looked at Bondita and then to Karan. Karan continued.

K- Before she went to London, she told me not to do anything to you. She used to call me every day from London. Before coming here, she planned to do this drama.

Sid- First we didn't want to do it but when Bondita said that she wanted to punish you for what you did to her, we agreed.

Anirudh looked at Sid. 

B- I decided the only way for you to know and understand your mistake is by making you go through the same things that I went through. I involved Kaka and the others except for Sampoorna because I saw how she supported you. I knew if I tell my plan to her, she will definitely tell you. 

Anirudh looked at her with tears in his eyes.

A- I'm sorry Bondita. Please forgive me. Now I understand how you may have felt when I did those things. I thought I made correct decision for you. I always thought I was right regarding matters about you. But I was wrong. So wrong.

Bondita smiled. 

B- I am glad that you understood your mistake. Anirudh, you can't take decisions on my behalf nor anyone's else. You hurt me so much. You were playing with my self-respect and my self-esteem. Just think. An educated person like you is doing this to me who was your wife. That too in front of public. What impression do you give to the people who are already oppressing the woman of their house. You wanted to change the mindset of people. Change the laws for the betterment. But what you did to me is complete contrast. You were doing exactly what others do.

Anirudh looked at her sadly. 

B- That's why I divorced you and went away. Now look at me. I became a Barrister without anyone's help. 

She looked at the guest and spoke.

B- We women don't always need to depend on a man. We are enough for ourselves. I know many of you talked bad about me giving divorce to Anirudh. I wanted to show you all that I am my own person. My identity is not linked with only my father and husband. You all should know that your wife, your daughter, your daughter-in-law is a person like you all are. Respect them. Women are not weak as you all think. 

She looked at others and saw everyone looking at her with admiration. Anirudh looked at her proudly.

B- Remember that women are the embodiment of power, wealth and intelligence. 

Kaka- You are right Bondita Beti. Women are Grihalakshmi. Without women, men are incomplete. 

K- Yes Kaka. Everyone is equal. 

A- You are right. I am sorry Bondita. Please forgive me. He clasped his hands. 

B- I forgive you Anirudh.  I will give you one last chance. Don't waste this.

Anirudh became happy and hugged her.

Som coughed.

Som- Da, you are not alone. He teased.
