Chapter 24: Second Mistake

After arriving on the place where we were supposed to meet, Carmen and I walked out of the car. I saw Kiera's eyes tattooed to Carmen's. Kiera looked calm but I knew that she was feeling a million things all at once. My father's eyes bore pain within them.

"Hello Carmen." My father spoke, his voice wavering.

Carmen said nothing. I couldn't tell if she wanted to rip my father's head off or not but the quivering on her hands showed that she was feeling something.

"What happened to the attack?" Megan spoke, breaking the silence. Before I was able to respond to the woman in front of me, a Black Rolls Royce Phantom came to view and stopped a few yards away from us. The woman inside walked out, wearing her business clothing. "Hello, Ms. Evergreen."

As my mother walked towards us, her eyes were glued to Carmen's. "Hello Megan." It was quiet for a second. "Hello Carmen."

Carmen stayed silent. This moment couldn't get anymore awkward. "So, Carmen, you said you had information on the Vinge pack for us?"

"I want to speak to Kiera first privately."

"Yeah, that's not going to happen." Megan spoke coldly. The two really didn't seem to be fond of each other much. "Tell us what you have and maybe we can grant you want."

"I don't know what to say though, what do you want to hear?"

"Anything that can be useful to us."

"Anything can be useful to you." I was getting confused, why was Carmen playing hard right now? Was it because she was talking to Megan and the two didn't like each other much?

"We're not playing games Carmen." Megan began to show annoyance.

"There's a few... but... I think you should know at this very moment, while you all are talking to me..." She paused. A smirk forming on the corner of her lips. My heart sank to the floor, it couldn't be. "Your territory is being invaded by the Vinge."

The second she finished her sentence, 17 betas came, surrounding all of us. "Carmen, you're not fucking serious right now." I spoke in disbelief.

The girl began giggling. "You didn't honestly think that was all genuine right? 'You have us Carmen, forget the Vinge'." She spoke in a theatrical voice, "like come on, that was just corny."

"Carmen." My father spoke her name.

"What is it 'father'? Are you mad you're being betrayed? Tables have turned right?" The old man stayed silent. Carmen began walking towards him, face to face. "How does it feel? To be betrayed? Did you really think I'd come see you, forgive you for abandoning me and you can make up for the fucking 19 years of my life that you neglected?" My father was too much in shock to say anything. Carmen suddenly threw a punch right at his face, causing him to take a few steps back.

"Carmen!" Kiera quickly moved towards them but was held by two betas. "Carmen! Stop this now!" The younger girl didn't even bother to look at Kiera, anger towards my father completely consumed all of her. "Carmen! Listen to me! Carmen!"

We were completely surrounded and there was nothing we could do right now. My father was in an emotional shock to do anything. God, does he have to be useless now? "Oh and 'mother mother mother mother' you're really no different. Damn, I forgot to mention that Yasmine girl is dead along with that guy." The guy she spoke of was Dean. He was supposed to be with Yasmine.

Megan's eyes began to glow in gold. "This is very naive of you Carmen. In case you forgot, you're with 3 alphas right now." 3 betas quickly grabbed Megan to hold her back, only for them to be thrown in the air. Carmen knows she and all these betas could not beat us 5 but they were trying to stall time. The 3 betas that was thrown in the air by Megan stood their ground once again and took their previous positions. All 17 betas came in charging all at once. My mother, Kiera, Megan and I took our stand while Carmen continued to beat my father. Both my mother and Megan's eyes were already glowing in gold while Kiera's were glowing baby blue and mine glowing in brown.
