Chapter 4 Nisiah

I walked into work ready for the day and ready to see Vivi. The aquarium was a lot more fun than I thought it would be and I missed hanging out with her. I clock in heading towards the kitchen when Shelia calls me to the office . "Good morning Sheila, what's up?"  She looks up from the computer " Viviana called in sick so I'll help you in the kitchen today ." I raise an eyebrow confused." Yes mam ." I walk to the kitchen texting Viviana.  Me:" your not coming in"?  Viviana:"No, I think I have the flu."  I shake my head. She was fine yesterday, something must be up .  Me;" what's really wrong "?  Viviana:" nothing Ni honest. I felt sick after I got home last night and I woke up with a fever this morning". Me:" ok Vivi, feel better work sucks when you're not around".  Viviana:" yeah I bet,talk to you later I need some rest". I put my phone back into my pocket.something about this didn't sit right with me but I let it go and focused on work . Today was busier than normal so time passed quick before I knew it it was time for my break .I sat outside on the patio and grabbed my phone rereading Vivi's messages and I still got the feeling that she was lying . Me:" is Lucian home ?"  Viviana:" no ,he is out of town for a couple of days, what's up?" I instintantlly felt butterflies and knew that my question had made her nervous.  Me:" I'm bringing you medicine when I get off at seven".  Viviana:" no, no need please don't burden yourself im ok ,plus I don't wanna get you sick." Now I was starting to get mad she could never be a burden to me. Me:" your my bestfriend I can feel that something is wrong, stop lying to me ". Viviana:" Ni I promise Im fine don't worry about me i'll be back at work before you know it ."  Me:" ok at least get some rest i'll text you later".   She could tell me she was fine all she wanted but I knew she was lying even from this distance I could feel her and something was wrong . I made up my mind that I was going to stop by her apartment anyway once I was off work .I wanted to leave right now but Sheila would lose her mind if I had to leave too.   The remaining work day passes quickly. I hurry and clock out rushing to my truck to go to Viviana's.      Viviana's apartment complex looked more like old abandoned buildings turned into apartments ,dead plants and trash everywhere and some apartment doors had bullet holes .I knew the only reason she even stayed here was because of the reading nook in her bedroom.      
   I ring the doorbell and knock twice." Viviana open the door,I know your home ". I waited another minute before ringing the doorbell again. Something was definitely off ,suddenly I saw a shadow standing beside the front door window and pain and overwhelming shame washes over me And I knew it was her. " You know I can see your shadow". He doesn't answer but my phone goes off .Viviana:" I told you not to come over, your going to get sick too". Why was she texting me from the door? The longer she took to open the more worried I was getting. I put my phone back in my pocket, not bothering to text her back . "Vivi, I know your at the door, I know you're not sick now, open the door or I'll kick it in". My worry was starting to turn into anger . She doesn't reply so I start counting "one" "two", the door cracks open. " Stop Nisiah ,out know I won't be able to replace it." I sigh a little relieved she finally opened the door. " I would have replaced Vivi,now let me in". She hesitates" ok, but you have to promise not to get mad." The hair on the back of my neck stands up. " Viviana, the fact you had to say that means I can't make that promise". Getting tired of the back and forth, I walk inside, turning to look at her as soon as she closes the door. Rage floods through me ,and I can feel my beast coming to the surface. I knew something was wrong and I was right.i close my eyes taking a deep breath. Viviana Lifts her face giving me a full glance of the damage on her face. Her beautiful brown eyes were. Bloodshot from crying and her right eye was black,purple and swollen shut.
  My fist clenched " That motherfucker!" "I'm going to kill him!" I see panic spread across her face and she stutters " no Ni,please he didn't mean it ". Hearing her say those words breaks my control and my beast comes to the surface,k-9s protrude from my mouth and my whole body tenses as I grow our feet taller, growing a snout,black fur and a pair of red demon wings. My voice deepens and my eyes turn blood orange. "Don't you dare defend him !" Viviana steps back shocked and scared" Ni,Nisiah wha.. what are you?" She backs away from me trying to melt into the wall to escape from me. I immediately unclench my fist taking a deep breath stepping back which causes her to relax a little. "Don't be scared Vivi, I will die before I hurt you."  Taking more breaths and relaxing as much as possible. We stand in silence for about ten minutes and I relax, returning back into my normal self, slowly lifting my hands to show her I mean no harm while walking towards her. She doesn't back away this time so I get close enough to pull her into my chest hugging her,she hesitates a moment before hugging me back. This girl wasn't just my best friend she calmed my fire,everything in me loved her secretly and wholeheartedly. I feel my shirt getting damp and hear her sniffle. I pull away looking her in the eyes, wiping the tears from her face ." I know I have explaining to do but so do you." She lowers her head " yeah I know " I sit her down on the couch walking to the kitchen to get her an ice pack, handing it to her  and sitting down pulling out a joint.  She starts giggling " Always prepared huh tigerboy?" I chuckle, "Tigerboy, that's cute." I light the joint passing it to her, she hits it before passing it back while staring at me like I'm one of the seven wonders of the world. I raise an eyebrow looking at her "ask." She grins" so are you like a secret winged thundercat?" I choked on the smoke and we both burst out laughing . " Not exactly, my mom comes from a strong line of Alphas and my dad is an  empathic demon. She stares at me looking confused. "Alphas as In werewolves? Wait but aren't alpha wolves only male?" I smile happy that she is ok with it so far.    " Yes to werewolves but no to males. My grandmother was the alpha before she passed and my mom took over ." She gets quiet  then starts giggling again " ok well you wanna play video games?" I looked at her curiously. I honestly thought she would be more freaked out but the fact is she wasn't surprised a little ."yeah sure why not."
  We play video games and watch movies with Viviana asking me questions the entire time until she gets quiet ,I look over and shes asleep I chuckle to myself  picking her up and putting her to bed.i take a moment admiring her beauty and how peaceful she looked while she slept and I could help but wonder why anyone would ever want to hurt such a beautiful soul. It kills me knowing how much pain she was in ,I moved the hair from her face before kissing her forehead." Sleep well love I'm not going anywhere." I quietly walk back into the living room grabbing a blanket from the hallway closet grabbing my phone and texting my beta Theo.  Me:" wisteryia casino, Lucian lugiamo is the target, teach him a lesson about putting his hands on women." I press send laying down to fall asleep.
