"i'm so tired." michael groaned as he flopped onto the couch after dropping mary and sam off at their house.

"i am too. that was crazy."

"we need a chill out day. where we can just relax with each other and the girls."

"please, are you busy tomorrow?" michael shook his head no. "perfect." luke sat next to him and nuzzled his face into the crook of his neck.

"where are the girls?" luke's eyes went wide thinking about them because they were here when they left.

"rose! katie!" michael yelled as luke ran up the stairs.

luke ran into rose's room and found them asleep in her bed. he let out a deep breath. michael ran up behind him. he also let out a deep sigh.

"thank god." michael put his hand on his heart and breathed heavily.

"let's go get ready for bed." michael nodded as they walked out of the room, turning off the lights and shutting the door. michael walked into luke's room and took off his shirt and pants, leaving him in just his underwear.

"i-i'll get you a pair of sweatpants," luke stuttered as he walked out of the bathroom. he went into his dresser and pulled out a pair of sweats. he handed them to michael. he thanked the blonde boy and luke got undressed as well. he put on a random pair of pajama pants after turning off the lights and climbed into bed with michael.

before closing his eyes, luke made a sudden decision. "michael?"

"yeah?" luke climbed out of his bed and turned on the lights. "w-what are you doing?"

"i can not wait another day without doing this." luke guided michael to the bottom edge of the bed and made him sit down. he sat down next to him.

"michael gordon clifford, we have known each other for three weeks and these past few weeks have been the best and worse weeks of my life. meeting you was just the beginning of those weeks and was one of the best things that smoking has ever done for me. my mother beating me half to death was the next thing, and there was a bunch of shitty things that have happened but you were always on my mind. this relationship is moving so fast but life is short to wait."

"l-luke, i ca-" luke quieted him by putting his finger on the older boy's lips. luke got off the bed and went to his jacket that was on the floor. he picked it up and got a red velvet box out of the pocket. he set it back down. he went in front of michael and got on one knee. michael gasped.

"no, this isn't a marriage proposal, but it's pretty close to it." luke opened up the box to reveal a silver band that had the words 'i promise to love you forever' engraved on it. he took the ring out of the box.

"now, michael," luke took his hand. "i love you, like a lot. that's the first time saying it and it feels so good to finally get that off my tongue, but would you to me the honor of promising me and yourself that we will always be by each other's side. no matter what?" michael had tears streaming down his face by now.

"i promise." luke slipped the ring onto michael's finger and got off the ground. michael got off the bed and luke brought him into an embrace.

"i love you, luke."

"i love you so much more, michael."

"pookie, why was michael crying last night?" rose asked as she took a bite of her cereal.

"did you get hurt, kitten?" katie asked looking at michael.

"no, nobody got hurt. grown up stuff happened. let's just say we made a promise."
