luke and mary walked around for what seemed like hours until they found a therapist that handles with patients like mary, but there was only one problem. the therapist was in a mental ward. they walked up into the front desk, nervous.

"how may i help you today?" the male nurse said from behind the bulletproof glass.

"we were wondering if we could possibly see the therapist. my friend, mary, here has a problem that no other therapist can figure out and your therapist says it right on her flyer what mary has." luke showed him the flyer and pointed at it.

"hm, i see. luckily for you she's offering to take in patients from outside the hospital so i will call her to see if she's busy." while the male nurse turned towards the phone, luke turned towards mary.

"did you hear him!?" luke exclaimed.

"huh? oh sorry, i was just thinking." she was biting her fingers, which meant she was nervous. "there is no need to be nervous, mary."

"it's just a habit."

"yeah, they you do nonstop."

"people with social anxiety, like myself, have some sort of habit they do keep them calm. whether its biting their fingernails, chewing their hair, listening to music, pretending to be on their on their phone and tons more."

"whatever."

"it's true."

they both turned towards the nurse when he said that she could see them. he got out of his little office area and made sure he locked the door behind him. he started to walk down a hallway and they followed.

mary stuck to luke's side as they walked down the corridor. the people in wheelchairs and trying to touch her hair creeped mary out. she's never really like hospitals.

luke, on the other hand, was perfectly fine. he had to stay here for two weeks when his mother found him listening to darker music and him getting a lip piercing. luke's mom is a little psychotic.

they reached a room with two doors, leading into two different places. one was for medication, the other was the therapist. she was busy with someone so the nurse told them to sit down and wait. mary sat next to luke, still stuck to his arm.

"mary, you can let go of me now." she released his arm from her grip.

"sorry luke."

"no problem." the door opened and the person that walked was the one and only michael clifford.

"hey, what are you doing here?" luke asked. michael lifted his head from the ground and looked at luke in shock. he didn't say a word before running off.

"which one of you is mary?"

"i am." mary said.

"come in. but he has to stay out."

"but-"

"it's okay, mary. you can do this." he kissed her forehead before running after michael.

michael's mom dropped him off at the mental institution for his daily therapy visit. michael had tried to kill himself back in january and his mom didn't want to risk it happening again.

"be good."

"yeah, whatever." michael got out of his mother's minivan, waving goodbye to katie in the back. he heard the car drive off as he looked up at the giant sign saying "GATEWAYS HOSPITAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CENTER".

"today is gonna be fun." michael stuffed his hands in the front pockets of his jeans as he walked through the gates and up the steps.

he pushed the bulletproof glass door open and walked to the front desk. he saw a male nurse that he hated sitting there, typing away on his computer.
