"rose, who is that?"

"that's mommy's boyfriend. he's name is tommy."

"why is he passed out on your floor?"

"i don't know, he wasn't there when we left."

"um, can you go into the kitchen and get me a glass of water for tommy?" she nodded and michael put her down. her tiny legs ran to the kitchen. michael went over the man and tried to wake him up.

"hey, wake up." michael touched his shoulder and he flinched awake. he rubbed his bloodshot eyes.

"who are you?" tommy asked.

"i'm michael. and you?"

"tommy fletcher. where am i?"

"um, at your girlfriend's house."

"liz? where is liz?"

"uh. she is-"

"hi tommy!" rose cheered and waved with a glass of water in her hands.

"hey baby girl." he went over and kissed her cheek. she gave his glass of water and he thanked her. "how long have i been out?"

"dunno. we just got here."

"wait, where's liz?"

"she was arrested tonight." the older man's eyes went wide.

"wha-what do you mean she's in jail?" he exclaimed.

"she was arrested for child abuse," michael said with a confused look on his face.

"d-do you mean she was b-beating rose?" tommy asked in disbelief. michael slowly nodded. tommy went over the smaller girl and hugged her close, not wanted to let her go.

"i'm so sorry that happened to yo. you didn't deserve that," tommy said, small tears sliding down his cheeks.

"it's ok, tommy. look, i'm a big girl!" she held up her arms, showing them off like she had muscles.

"come on, let's get you to bed." tommy let go of rose and she ran over to michael.

"i should get going. thank you for the information." tommy put his water in the sink before grabbing his keys and jacket. he opened the door and left. michael lead rose upstairs to her room.

"mikey?" michael turned his attention to the toddler.

"yes, rose?"

"do you love luke?" she asked, looking mindlessly at her wall. michael was honestly taken back by this question.

"i-i d-don't know."

"it's okay to say you do. i have loved him since we've met." michael handed her a pair of pajamas and she changed out of school clothes while michael looked at the wall.

"why did you ask me that?"

"it's okay to turn around now. and because you look at pookie the way i look at patty."

"who's patty?" michael asked cluelessly.

"patty from fall out boy."

"you really love him, don't you?" she nodded her head quickly.
