Uday had gone to the college at noon time in the hopes of meeting Avni so he could talk to her. How come he was the only who hadn't known she started her internship at the school today? But it didn't matter. He had called up Manya at that point and she had told him laughing at how he is always the last to know what is happening. He hadn't minded at all. Manya teasing him was something he was used to besides it was always in jest and he knew it. She didn't have one mean bone in her body unless you were in the list of people she didn't like. Then she could be so much like Karan. Anyway she had then told him that she was at the school and would be going there every day from now on and that she was working late so would be out by three thirty four. So he had gone back to work and had come back again around three thirty. He didn't have Avni's number and to ask Manya for it would mean putting thoughts in his sister's head and he didn't want that. So he had asked the gatekeeper who had told him that some assistant teachers were still inside. That was why he hadn't locked the gates yet. He had then waited. And as soon as he had seen her walk out Uday had breathed a sigh of relief. She was walking towards the bus stop. But then she had looked in his direction and he had to grin at how tired she looked. She was a funny one that way. Poor thing. He had waved at her and then saw a smile form which suggested she had seen and recognized him.

As she came to stand before him he couldn't help but notice she had a strange fragility to her. Compared to Riddhima she was much more delicate not to mention quiet too. But he liked Riddhima's infectious smile and her ability to light up a room with just her presence. Avni was a pretty girl too but she was not his type.

"Hi," he said still grinning.

"Hi," Avni responded, "what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Well, I just wanted to see if you would look as beat as you do now," he said teasing her and she just shook her head, "okay, into the jeep before you fall down. What did they make you do in that school anyway?" he said as he laughed at her consternation. But he saw her turn around and sit in the passenger seat.

He sat in driver's seat and putting on his seat belt left.

"Did you have lunch?" he asked.

"Yes," Avni replied.

"How was your first day of teaching?" he asked making conversation.

"Nice," she replied, "though tiring. Actually it was not so much as what I did but how much I talked," she said and Uday laughed.

"Yeah, that could be a bit too much for you," he said lightly and Avni smiled.

It was so easy to talk to Uday. He was so different from Karan. She never had to wonder how he would react to what she was going to say. He had actually never been rude to her either intentionally or unintentionally. Maybe his nature didn't allow him to be that way. He was always happy. Though she couldn't help but think what he was doing here?

"Uday," she said as she pondered over the question she had just thought of, "how come you picked me up today? I mean I didn't know you were coming," she said as she looked at him.

"Why?" Uday said with a smile, "Is my picking you up that odd?" he said pleasantly.

"No," she said quietly, "it was just I wasn't expecting to see you here," she said as she looked away.

"You are right," he said in a serious voice which made her look at him again. "I came for a purpose. Do you have some time or do you have to be back home right away?" he asked.

"I don't have to be home right away," she replied wondering what purpose was he talking about.

"Good," he said smiling again, "let's have a cup of good coffee, my treat," he said.
