Chapter Fourteen- The Obsidian Kingdom

Elwyn had learned that the contraption that she had awoken in was an airplane, she had seen them in the distance but had never rode one before.

She also did not know that it caused her ears to pop until it happened. She had yelped and covered her ears as the world grew muffled and the air popped in her eardrums. Her insides had threatened to come undone and her wound had started to bleed some. However, Elwyn had promptly ignored and not told either male.

As the plane dipped and lowered beneath the clouds, Elwyn scooted herself over to the nearest window. What she saw had it hard for her not to gasp in awe.

Dane and Aldric both watched her curiously but she didn't pay attention to them. Outside the window, she saw the world of the wolf kingdom below. The ocean disappeared and a sea of trees flooded her vision. The leaves ranged from shades of mahogany, periwinkle, sage and deep black.  The light colors were sparse and blended into the dark warmth of the trees. There were long winding roads, mountains that the plane nearly touched and a river that ran throughout the heavy covered forest.

Wild animals ran in the few pieces of land that did not  house trees and there were wolves. They were beautiful shades, as small as ant from this view, running between the trees, slipping in and out of shadows.

Elwyns face was pressed against the glass as she tried to take in more of the kingdom. The towns were miles apart, wooden, marble, brick, it seemed like every sort of material was used to build with, in harmony with the natural world around it. Flowers climbed the homes and weaved over the roofs, tree branches wound around windows and color seemed to melt into each all, shades of autumn and warmth. Elwyn could feel the cold air against her cheek as they  lowered, as the flew over the mountains, the river continued, there was nothing for miles and miles. Nothing but trees and one long winding road. What it led to was a castle fit for the stories. It was black as night, dripping in what could only be described as glitter.

Elwyn felt chills run down her spine, it was frightening but so very curious.

The castle was fit for a dark king. The windows were all dark, candlelight barely staining its blackness at dusk. The sun was set off to the side as if it were avoiding its darkness. The castle was tall and long, it looked as if it could kiss the light out of someone. The long road ended there with large iron gates and the forest shrouding the majority of its massiveness. Elwyn had no doubt that the trees hid more of the castle size.

Dane peeled her face away and she jumped as she crashed back to reality.

Elwyn glared at him before turning to Aldric. He lounged on the couch, his leg lazily layed on the expesive felt. "Like what you see, princess?" Elwyn pursed her lips at him. "I could use better clothes, it looks like it will be cold out there." Elwyn wrapped the cloak tighter around herself, leaving enough room that the fabric didn't cling to her figure.

Aldric shrugged as Dane moved to sit across from him. He scrubbed his face, revealing his dark eye bags.

Elwyn forced herself to look away. She would not pity him, not after everything he had done.

"I don't think you need clothes. I like you dressed the way you are."

Elwyn snapped her attention to him. If looks could murder, he would have died right then.

"I will strangle you with your shirt if you don't stop making crude comments." She hissed.

Aldric laughed. It was light and airy.

"You will do as you're told, pet. You are mine, I may say I'm bringing you back to my brother but you're mine." Elwyn went frigid at the intensity in Aldrics crystal eyes, they shone brighter, his teeth baring at her in warning.

Elwyn bit the inside of her cheek hard enough to draw blood. She had a feeling that her mouth could get her in a lot of trouble.

Dane eyed her with an expression that said just as much.

Aldric stood from the couch smiling as if he hadn't been trying to claim her as his. "We land in ten minutes, I'll see you in the castle, Princess."

Elwyn had declined Danes offer for his jacket. Partially because she wanted to and also because a small part of her didn't want him to be punished for helping her.

"We are going to meet the king first." Dane said as they exited the plane. The doors were pushed open and Dane walked to the bottom waiting for her to follow. The air clipped at her and her teeth chattered. It wasn't snowing but pieces of ice clung to the branches of  trees.

They had landed in a field behind the castle, with a walkway of black marble leading up to the castle. There was nothing but woods for miles and miles, it was silent and cold.

Elwyn placed her bare foot on the first step, clenching her jaw as she held the cool rail of the planes staircase. Every step made her shiver more and more.

Aldric walked down after nonchalantly. She stood with purpling feet, grasping her cloak tightly around her. Her nose ran and dripped black.
Aldric sighed exasperated. "We should hurry and do this before my little pet passes out.

Elwyn moved slightly out of the way as the posse of men that had destroyed her kingdom walked down. Now, they all wore freshly ironed white shirts beneath their leather jackets. They had opted their mud covered shoes for polished dress shoes and good hygiene.

Elwyn glared as the burly stepped down and took a long look at her with a smile that was made for killing.

Dane reached for her arm and carefully pulled her away. If she hadn't been so light headed she may have fought him.

"Now, lets go see my brother." Aldric said waving his hands towards the castle.

The men lined up around them as they began to walk towards the obsidian castle.
