Chapter Thirty Three- Falling Into Icy Flames

"LIllyan!" Evander cried out, moving to step in front of the woman. The flames halted, the ice licking furiously at his feet.

"Get out of the way, Evander." Elwyn snarled.

Evander raised his hand, his shirt rising some, exposing the oliveness of his abdomen. Elwyn clenched her fist tightly, breathing heavily through her nostrils. "I'm your special." Elwyn snapped.

Evander nodded, his eyebrows knitting together before a look of realization slid over his features. "Elwyn, I am not with her."

The warriors eyes snapped to the kings. Elwyn studied his expression, the flames receding, the ice however staying, slowly pulling back into her like a vacuum.

"I promise you, I would not do that."

Elwyn looked to the woman who was frowning at his statement. She knew then that his words were true based on the disappointment and annoyance on her fair face.

The flames winked away, leaving the smell of burnt wood and steam that made the ice hiss as it melted. Elwyn stood in a dress carved of flames, black as night, trailing over her body, highlighting every divot and curve. A dress made by magic.

Elwyn took a step backwards, the scene before her striking her.

She looked to the woman Lillyanna. She smirked at her with a look that said it all. She had thoroughly messed up.

Evander turned to look to the woman and her face changed into one of fear and horror as she latched her arm onto him.

"Oh, I thought she was going to kill us." She sobbed, falling dramatically into him.

Elwyn grit her teeth and stayed silent. She deserved this for her wreckless outburst. Her room was torn to shreds, every inch had been burned or was dripping in sizzling water.

Evander caught Lillyanna, keeping her at an arm's length, only allowing one hand to uphold her. Elwyn felt a smile tug at her lips at this, the girls face sliding to hers with slitted eyes.

Not a moment later, the guard who had spoken earlier tentatively walked in. He was young, thin and lean with brown eyes and short chestnut colored hair. He did not hide his expression of terror as he walked in front of Elwyn and took the place of Evander, escorting out the temptress.

Once they left, Evander walked forward to her until he stood right before her. "You're not afraid of me?"Elwyn asked. Evander looked at  her for a long moment. "No, I'm afraid of the people you will hurt."

Elwyn felt a stabbing ache in her chest at his comment. Her throat began to feel thick as Evanders face turned into that of an angry king. "You cannot hurt my people."

"Your people? I'm not the one shoving my tongue down some random girls throat."

Evander backed Elwyn into the wall. Her back hit the hot wood with a loud echo.

"She is a healer."

Elwyn rolled her eyes at the king, scoffing. "I'm sure she does a great job at that." She snarled.

Evander gently grabbed her chin, staring straight into her eyes. "Elwyn, do not test me."

"What? Are you  going to lock me in a dungeon again?" She shot back.

Evanders hand fell to his sides and he stepped back looking at her intensely.

"I did not want that. I had no choice."

Elwyn felt the necklace she wore grow hot with her anger. "Of course you did."

"No, If I hadn't done that you could have killed or harmed someone. You can't control your powers, which you continuously prove with your outrageous outbursts. I am running out of options, Elwyn. There are people who want you dead because they fear the power you have. Or they simply covet it and I cannot protect you if you can't obtain control."
