Chapter Twenty Five- Mysterious Findings
Elwyn remembered her parents telling her about specials. Some called them soulmates, mates, true love and many other names.
"It's your one true love. Your other half. The creator pairs two souls that together can change the world. They have become more rare over the years. But some people will spend their whole life waiting for that person. When you find them, they become your world."
Elwyn stared at Evander Kane, her father's words swimming in her mind.
"Elwyn-." Evander cautioned taking a step toward her.
The girl took a staggering step backwards, her bare skin hitting the balconies railing. "I can't have a special. I'm Goldmoons royally assigned guard for the queen. I'm just human.I-." Elwyn began to hyperventilate and the king raised his hands taking a step back. "Elwyn I am not trying to tell you what to do but for now, you need to calm down."
Elwyn shook her head. "Calm down?!" She shrieked, her hands shaking as the balcony began to sway. It wasn't just her hands that shook. "I-I'm human. All I have ever been is nothing. Insignificant." She cried.
Evander growled at her use of words. "You are not insignificant."
Everything her mother and father had told her was a lie. The second that bracelet was ripped from her wrist, she was someone completely new.
"My parents- they- they kept me from everyone. Trained me- I'm just human." Elwyn roared this with anguish. The balcony began to crumble, smoke emitting from the nearby trees. She sobbed, collapsing to her knees as she went down with the architechture.
Evander lept after her, his arms wrapping around her and shielding her as they crashed down several stories. The rumble of the earth vibrated and a cloud of dust was produced as Elwyn opened her eyes to be level with the earth.
She sobbed heavily, her breath coming out in pants. As the air cleared some, she rolled off of Evander who grunted at the movement. His body was covered in bruises and cuts, causing Elwyn to back away in horror and sob loudly.
A crowd of people began to show but one look from the king stopped the advancement of strangers. "Elwyn, you have to gain control. I know you're in shock but you're going to hurt others."
Elwyns lip trembled as she looked at his bleeding lip. Other than a few aches, Elwyn was unmarred from the fall. She pressed her face into her hands and sobbed harder. Soon enough rain began to slam down on them with mighty force. Evander took hold of Elwyn despite her boiling hot skin. Cold water, dripping down his body.
He held her close, letting the rain soak through his and her clothes, protecting her body from the chilled rain.
They stayed like this for a moment longer and then he scooped her into his arms, traveling into the throne room.
Elwyn was set on the cold marvel floor, where towels already awaited them. The door behind them shut with a loud boom, wet shoes sounding against the marble.
She shivered at the change in temperature and held her arms around herself as Evander stood up and pushed his dislocated shoulder back in place with only a grunt. "I'm sorry I hurt you." She said, a strike of lightning thundering against the castle.
Evander tossed her a towel and they both began to dry themselves. Elwyn let herself drown in her thoughts, a full on hail storm beginning to rain down on the obsidian castle. The feeling of something being placed around her wrist, stopped the advancement.
The storm became a light trickle and Elwyn looked down at the half shattered, now barely metal bracelet.
She sniffled and with sadness wondered if this is why her parents had locked her powers away. One negative emotion could very well cause mass destruction.
Elwyn looked up at Evander, meeting his eyes, her fills with dread. His expression softened and despite the lack of knowing him, Elwyn let him embrace her as she cried.

A loud slam had Avelina shooting open her eyes. Darkness was replaced by bright iridescent car lights. The heir raised her hands to shield herself from the change.
Markarious Kane clamped his hands over Avelinas wrists and drug her out form beneath the pile of weaponry. Despite the abruptness, he handled her gently. His face did not convey the same feeling.
Avelina smiled sheepishly as Markarious sat her on a sidewalk. He gave a pointed, angered look but Avelina paid him no attention. She took a second, ignoring his chastising to look at her surroundings. The were parked outside of a dinner, the lights twinkled and classic rock could lightly be heard from outside. The parking lot was rather empty and they were parked off to the side.
"Avelina." Markarious snapped.
The heir smiled, looking back at the man to produce a sweet smile. Behind him were two other men and one woman. They all look equally pissed or annoyed that she was there. "Just leave her here. She can find her way back." One of the men grumbled, waving at the shiny white dinner. He was shorter than Markarious and he had buzzed dark hair, his eyebrows seemingly pulled into a glare if that were even possible.
"Excuse me but you can't just drop me off here. I have no idea where I am." She argued.
The man scoffed at her. "And yet you decided to come on a fun little road trip with us."
Avelina crossed her arms, standing up to meet the man's gaze. He raised a brow at her boldness but was quickly shoved aside by the woman in the back. "Sit down." She clipped. Avelina raised her head higher, her nose practically pointed at the sky. "Look, either sit your ass down and listen or I will leave you in the woods rather than a diner."
Avelina hesitated before lowering her gaze and looking at Markarious who stepped into Avelinas view. "Go have a pissing contest somewhere else, Gabrielle."
Avelinas eyes traveled to the womans as Markarious pulled her away. She took note of the woman's nearly perfect bronzed skin. She had white hair that was pulled into a tight ponytail at the nape of her neck and cunning red-green eyes. Her eyes snapped to Avelinas with a vicious snarl of teeth.
Avelina looked up to Markarious. "You're working with the dark fallen?" She breathed as she took note of the black wing tattooed on her wrist.
Markarious blocked her view of the woman. "Do you want your sister back or not?" He asked.
Avelina fumbled over her words, fiddling with the fabric of her sisters clothing.
She nodded, fear still beating in her chest. Her father had nearly been killed by the dark fallen. And now here Avelina was, next in line for the throne, ten feet from an enemy of both her father and kingdom.
