He had not disagreed when the proposal was left implied, so Jay assumed it meant a yes. Maybe not a yes, but a form of agreement. Since all night Jungwon had the opportunity to say no, and it was the next day.
Jungwon had mentioned that if Jay wanted to invite someone, he had to tell him. He said it many times, actually. But Jay was sure that if he had said something, Jungwon would have immediately shut it down.
It was only going to be; Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Riki. To Jay, that was a few, but to Jungwon it could be a lot. And in a way, Jay was still highly against the idea of introducing his friends to Jungwon. But it somewhat felt like Jungwon needed it.
He raised his phone to his ear after a while, waiting for someone to speak before he did. "Explain."
Jay sighed and barely clutched his phone. "I did, and why isn't Riki in the call?"
"I am," Riki answered.
Sunoo groaned, exasperated, and the sound from his side was just shuffling until he spoke up again. "He's in my room. So he's just joining me."
"It's hard to know if I should label you guys as sibling-like or just lovebirds," Jake remarked.
"Enemies," Sunoo scoffed.
"So enemies to lovers?" Riki jubilantly suggested.
"Not a chance," Sunoo groaned.
"I thought you were dating though," Sunghoon said.
"Gosh. We weren't—and aren't, don't let Riki fool you. Now Jay—back to your topic."
"So why do you all of a sudden want to invite us despite literally saying that you don't want us to meet him," Jake mentioned.
Was he eating his words too soon? He probably was. In that case, Jay would never let them know that he cooked for the younger boy too.
"Can I use my I-don't-need-a-reason pass or not?"
"You don't have one," retorted Sunghoon.
"Or are you inviting us without him knowing? You trying to worsen your reputation with him or something?" Riki asked.
"Can you let me explain first?"
"You weren't trying to explain just a second ago," Sunghoon interjected, a proud smile in his tone.
"Can I not just invite you guys over?"
"Not without being suspicious about it. Whatever you're asking because of better be worthwhile; I'll have to be driving me and this annoying kid a long drive to get over there," Sunoo said.
"Okay, out of respect I can't tell you the real reason. But just know that it's a good reason," Jay instead said.
"Are you getting closer to him?"
"I doubt they are. Jay probably said that so that he won't tell us the actual reason."
"And they hate each other's guts."
"Could be enemies to lovers. Y'know, like me and you, Sunoo," Riki joked despite the flirtatious tone in his voice.
Sunoo grumbled, "Ignore him."
"Already am," Jay said, "So are you guys coming or not?"
Sunghoon agreed and Jake did the same after him.
"Yeah, we'll be there," Sunoo answered.
