⚠️TW- Needles⚠️

As soon as you entered. Charles let out a cry and collapsed. You flinched at first before realising what was happening. The serum was wearing off. His legs were giving out and his powers were coming back.

"What's happening?" Logan asked. You wanted desperately to be able to explain, but the words couldn't find their way out. Hank mumbled an explanation and you both went to find the serum. Leaving Logan to keep an eye on Charles.

"I hate when this happens..." Hank mumbled to himself.

"Me too," You replied, and although that ended up being the whole conversation. At least you and Hank could agree on one thing. Charles' well-being.

You both ran back into the hallway, Hank helping Charles get ready to take the serum. You stood next to Logan, who gently placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder. You didn't look at him though, you looked instead at Charles.

"You're not gonna find Raven... not without your powers," Logan stated calmly. Charles looked up, almost in shock or something. You couldn't really tell, but you knew this idea worried him. He didn't say anything, he just inserted the needle into his arm. He went to inject the substance, but froze. He was thinking about it.

A wave of a warm feeling filled you up at the idea that he might not inject himself with that nasty stuff. You really hoped he wouldn't. He froze for a little while before he sighed loudly and pulled the needle back out. You allowed yourself a small stim to shake off the relief.

"Hank... will you help me to my study please...?" Charles didn't sound happy. But you were able to understand that this was something he would have to get used to all over again.

Hank helped Charles up and got him back into his old wheelchair. The familiar sight only filled you with more relief and calm. Calm... for once in what felt like forever.

"When was the last time you were down here?" Logan asked.

"The last time we went looking for students," Hank answered.

"A lifetime ago," Charles interjected.

(Wait for El response)

They looked at you slightly surprised but you were trying to take Erik's advice, so you shrugged.

Charles allowed the doors to Cerebro to scan His face for entry.

"Welcome, Professor," the robotic female voice recited before the doors opened with a gentle whirring noise that you weren't sure wether only you could hear or everyone else could.  Charles wheeled down the pathway to the Cerebro console, Hank and Logan behind him with you as well.

Charles gently picked up the helmet and blew the dust off of the top.

"These are muscles I haven't stretched in a long time..." He mumbled. Knowing his way of speech you understood that he meant his powers not actual muscles. Hank was pressing buttons and flicking switches all over the console and you watched him do so, visual stimming over the lights and switches.

Charles put the helmet on and Cerebro turned on. The whole room became flashes of white which you had to shield your eyes from momentarily. You knew the white lights were the humans.

"Where's Raven?"

"Hang on..." Charles' voice was strained.

"Are you okay?" Logan put a hand on your shoulder.

"It'll be fine," he said. But it didn't feel fine. Charles sounded more upset with every second, Cerebro flashed brightly but now red which you knew represented the mutants. You felt anxious at not knowing clearly what was happening.

"What's going on?" No one answered you which made you more frustrated. "Charles!?"

Charles' cries of pain turned into a full on scream which made you cover your ears and you shut your eyes tight as all the dials on the console burst and sparked.

"Was it my fault?" You asked.

"No," Logan shook his head. "Go take a walk, you look overwhelmed". You're too frustrated to argue so you reluctantly take yourself away.

Upon returning, Logan looked relived and Charles seemed much better. That made you feel better too. You watched quietly as Charles managed to locate and communicate with Raven. You, Hank and Logan could only hear Charles' part of the conversation, and it didn't sound like he was managing to convince her.

" Shut her down, Charles, get in her head" Hank prompted.

"I can't," you felt annoyed a thank trying to push Charles further than he could go right now.

In the end, Charles removed the helmet, he looked defeated.

"There's no changing her mind"

"Did you see where she was going?" Logan asked. Charles suddenly concentrated and his eyes widened.

"Washington DC..."

"Are we gonna go get her?" You ask, needing answers.

Charles smiled at you. You couldn't remember the last time he gave you a real smile.

"Yes..."
