1. Wobble

'MATE!'

It takes all my will power to stay still and not follow the guards along my mate to the cells. Nothing could stop me from going to the cells and taking in that sweet honey cinnamon scent that's making my mouth water while my nose can't get in enough.

"Seth?" Lance steps over in from of my wolf form.

Fido tries to whine but I force it back as our control together is stronger than most wolves have. Instead, I turn our wolf head to face Lance better since he is just before being in front of us.

His hands holds a pair of shorts one of the warriors must have handed him and I shift a moment later. Taking the offered shorts, I look around discretely and no one has noticed anything off with us other than possibly Lance as Valin is talking with a warrior along with Uncle Levo.

"What do you think?" Lance's voice reaches my ears this time.

"On?" I cut my eyes back to him and see his confusion mount up even more.

Something I missed since I thought I heard him talking but my mind was focused on one thing alone and that was the wolf following the warriors. Fido is unsettled in the back of my mind where he goes when not wanting to bother with everything around us otherwise he tends to stay more to the front just watching everything.

"Questioning the rogues." Lance responds before he looks at me hard. "You good?"

Good is a strong word as I am not sure what to do.

"Good is a word I am not sure if would be used."

"Does Fido not trust them? You know we have always said to listen to your wolf spirit they have the senses we may miss as humans."

"It is not trust that he is thinking."

I want to meet mate. Hear her voice. Fido sighs like a love sick pup.

She is a rogue. I deadpan.

So? Maybe not by choice as the one mentioned they are being hunted.

We would have to talk to them both. You do realize her situation makes this more complicated. I sigh and he whines in our head.

"Something is up." Lance raises an eyebrow. "It is all over your face Seth that your wolf and you are communicating."

I nod. "I will explain back at Auntie's."

Lance looks around and gives a sharp nod. He knows and has taught me that we don't always discuss things out in the open with many ears around since news spreads through the pack like a wildfire. That is why we must tend to things in private so not to have the pack in a twist with worry or anything else until we are ready to announce things and this is something I get the feeling I will have to tread carefully on.

One day I will be Beta once Valin steps down. Something I am in no rush for as I have only been officially training for two years now. Sure I can do the work and have been doing a major portion of it over the last couple months since turning eighteen to where he is doing other responsibilities to help out Lance or even Levo with training the warriors.

With becoming Beta one day, I have to think of the pack and how they may react. It seems like a fine line on if they would accept a rogue giving the history this pack has had with them over the years even well before Ma and I were here. Especially, since more times than not a rogue cannot be trusted as their wolves are to tempermental even if the human is sane the wolf spirit may not be due to wolves don't do well without the pack structure.

"Let's head back to Auntie's." Lance nudges my shoulder as I had zoned once more earning a frown from him.

I take the shorts off and shift back into Fido's form. Lance leads us to Auntie's and I follow in quick behind him, as I hear more paws hitting the ground behind me only to see Valin joining us. Once outside the house, I shift and put the shorts back on since I picked them up from the ground before we took off as the others done the same this time.

"So I think they will talk as they asked for refuge. The hardest part will be a trial period to see if they hold up to everything or anything they may say. My suggestion is they are never on their own if they are released from the cells, at least a warrior or two with them at all times until trusted." Valin starts talking.

"Not to bad of a thought but we need to see what they have to say first." Lance replies as Valin nods.

"They are getting a plate of food currently and will be waiting for you to speak with them." Valin informs Lance.

"I will be there once getting Fayla and Callie home. Seth are you joining us? This is the best way to learn as you know and times like this doesn't come often to learn from. Besides, you and Fido have an uncanny ability to read people at times." Lance looks to me.

"I am there." I don't even hestiate.

"Now what is bothering you? It isn't like you to be off during anything like happened back there." Lance looks to me and tilts his head as it catches Valin's attention.

"The one that didn't shift." I start but stop as Fido perks up in my mind and comes to the front. "She is my mate."

Valin's mouth drops as Lance gets a smirk so wide it may just reach the cells. I roll my eyes and huff at their reaction.

"For two that have teased me the longest about finding my mate, how I may act, or it being when I least expect it are acting more shocked than anything." I shake my head. "Something that has me nervous though."

Fido starts to fidget as he catches onto my thoughts.

"Okay, not what I was expecting most of the time when both mates are wolves they are groveling over each other." Lance snaps out of it and Valin nods.

"It was different for me and your Ma since I knew she was human. This is out of my realm as we know I fucked it all up." Valin holds his hands up.

"Anyways. What is on your mind?" Lance looks to me after shoving Valin some.

Sometimes I wonder who the kids actually are as Ma has said before.

"I felt the bond or her scent affecting me but she didn't seem affected. I know she had to have known." I sigh and run my hands down my face as Fido whines.

Lance gives me a sad look and Valin does the same as it clicks.

Her seemingly unaffected could make the possible of rejection up there.

A single sentence, merely thought, makes my heart race as sadness creeps in and my knees want to wobble.
