Nightmare

Chapter 16

"Oh my gods love," Beomgyu is the first to speak. 

He moves and carefully cradles you in his arms. The movement causes a white hot flare of pain to rip through you, a whimper falling from your lips. Beomgyu pauses his movements once you are secured against his chest and you lean into the cold radiating from him, hoping it helps to cool you down. The other vampires settle in a tight circle around the two of you, concerned faces watching your movements. Another rush of pain hits you and you attempt to curl closer to Beomgyu. Your vision is beginning to blur and your head is reeling.

When you cry out, the vampires feel a physical pain in their chests. All they want to do is help their mate, but they don't know how.

"Baby you need to breathe," Yeonjun whispers when he sees the rapid rising and falling of your chest. "Deep breaths."

You just shake your head.

"I know it hurts, but it will help you calm down," Yeonjun tries to persuade you, slowly bringing a hand up to card his fingers through your hair. "Please can you try for us."

Another whimper leaves you as you try to focus on your breathing, taking slow, deep breaths in and out. It does help alleviate the smallest bit of pain. Yeonjun continues to run his fingers through your hair, the cold feeling and comforting motion helping to calm you. 

"Are you able to speak?"

Again you shake your head, bringing a shaking hand up to point at your throat, hoping they understand. And they do.

"It's okay Sol," Soobin assures me with a soft, forced smile. "I figured as much, just wanted to check."

You try to keep your eyes open despite the pain, desperately trying to distract yourself from the pain by looking at your mates, taking in what you see. They can see you fighting the blackout, fighting against sleep. 

"It's okay," Taehyun hums. "You can go to sleep."

Again you shake your head, this time more rapidly. This, in turn, causes the pain in your head to multiply and you wince.

"Sleep might help you heal Sol," Taehyun continues. "It will at least let you forgot about the pain."

You look at him, eyes wide in fright and shake your head more harshly. Taehyun looks confused as he takes in the obvious terror mixed with pain on your face. But they still don't understand, none of them do.

"N-no," you rasp, that allow causing your throat to feel like a knife had sliced it. "I can't."

"Why?" Kai is the one to ask, his head cocked to the side in confusion.

"Most don't-" you have to pause from the pain. "wake up."

And then the realization hits them like a truck. 

"Oh Sunshine," Beomgyu sighs, moving you even closer to his chest, happy when you don't whimper at the movement. "We won't let that happen alright? We'll make sure you're safe while you sleep. We promise."

You move your gaze to his, desperately trying to decipher if he's telling you the truth or not. 

"All five of us will keep you safe," Beomgyu reiterates. "I swear."

You groan, the pain in your body wearing you down. "Okay, just please don't let anything happen."

"Of course we won't. We can't lose you darling." 

Beomgyu gives you one more assurance and you take it, letting your eyes slide closed. It takes a moment, but your breathing finally evens out, body relaxing slightly in Beomgyu's hold. The vampires all tune in on your heartbeat, listening as the rhythmic beats continue.
