"Kibble for Barack Obama! Kibble for TidePod! Kibble for Cartman! Kibble for Cilantro! And Kibble for Mustache Cashstache!" I put some cat kibble down on the ground to feed the strays. I wanted to adopt them all, but my parents were pretty strict about only having one pet; my main man, Concrete.
"Uh... hi, can I pet them?" I heard a younger voice behind me.
I turned around and saw a young girl. She looked like she was in middle school. She wore her light brown hair in pigtails and had blue eyes. She wore a green shirt and a brown skirt. Her face seemed sort of familiar too...
"Oh, hi kid!" I greeted her warmly.
"Hi..." She said shyly. I smiled at her, before speaking, "Wait for them to finish eating, and I'll introduce you to them. Well, just to one cat first so they know you're friendly. Cilantro is the nicest!" I pointed to the white and orange cat who was almost done eating.
She sat near me on the park bench and looked at me.
"There's a cat that sits by my house, but he never lets me pet him. He always runs away." She told me.
"Really? The cat must be shy then!" I said.
"Yeah, but it's a really nice cat! One time I lost my dolly, and I followed it around and he led me back to her!' She told.
"Wow! That's amazing, cats are pretty smart huh?"
"They sure are!" She said enthusiastically.
Cilantro finished eating, and I looked at her. "Cilantro! Up!" I patted the space between me and the little girl. Cilantro hopped on and rubbed her face against my arm. She's always been an affectionate girl! Just like me!
"Okay, now slowly reach your hand out, and let her sniff you," I instructed the little girl. She did as told, and Cilantro sniffed her hand. Cilantro rubbed her face against the little girl's hand before purring.
"Hehe! She sounds like a car!" She remarked.
"Haha, you're right! I never thought about it like that!"
The little girl pet Cilantro's head. Cilantro loafed and shut her eyes in relaxation on the bench. The other cats finished their kibble and watched the little girl and me. Tide Pod leaped up into my lap, and I pet her.
"You're like the princess of cats or something." She remarked.
"Me? A princess?"
"No! More like an angel! Because without you, these cats would starve to death! You saved them, so you're like- uh... a cat angel!" She said cheerily.
I giggled in response, "Thank you! You may now refer to me as Cat Angel!" I joked playfully.
She giggled in response. Cilantro plopped over, revealing her tummy. The kid was about to reach out until I spoke,
"Wait! Don't pet!" She pulled her hand away from the cat, and looked at me nervously,
"Why?"
"Most cats don't like their tummy rubbed. They just show their tummies to tell you they're comfortable with you."
"Ohhh! Is head pats still okay?"
"Head pats are still okay," I confirmed with a thumbs ope.
She rubbed her fingers around on Cilantro's head, making her purr loudly. She was a lucky kitty who was in for a massage.
"Can I ask you something, Cat Angel?"
"Yes?"
"What is cilantro?"
