[Third Person P.o.v]

It's been about a month since the accident. (Y/n) was stuck in a coma, and still hadn't woken up. She was barely able to make it out of that accident alive the doctors said she was even lucky to have survived. When they managed to get her stabilized, they had to transfuse a lot of blood into her, to keep her going. As the days went by, her injuries were healing rather quickly, in fact the doctors weren't sure why she was healing quickly. Despite her physical condition improving by the day, she wasn't able to wake up yet. Many people visited her, her parents, Wendy, Bebe, Nichole, Heidi, Kyle, and even Mrs. Flores. The only person who hadn't visited her was Kenny. The last thing he did was take Concrete home, after that, he isolated himself from everybody. He stopped hanging out with his friends, he dropped out of school, he quit his job, and he went back to his old habits of getting drunk and high. Kenny refused to talk to anyone, whether it be his friends, his parents, or even his own brother. He isolated himself from everybody, so much so that most people thought he had left town.

As Kenny drowned each day away in marijuana and alcohol, life kept moving. (Y/n) was still in a coma at the hospital, and his friends seemed to be doing just fine without him. Kenny was clearly suffering, he had lost his angel, and in the event that she should wake up, he couldn't be near her. If he were to stay with her, it would only be a matter of time before she died.

(Y/n) couldn't understand that curse of his, it was too far-fetched, too unreal, but before she died, she was willing to believe in anything if it meant that Kenny was hurting her to protect her... because although scientifically it made no sense, believing his curse would mean he still loved her. And that's all she wanted; to be loved by him. Even if that meant blindly believing an otherworldly curse.

"Mija, wake up soon okay? I've been praying every night for you to come back. The cats have missed you..." Mrs. Flores said, with a dismal expression etched across her face. She was seated on a chair by (Y/n)'s hospital bed. In the month that (Y/n) was gone, Mrs. Flores could begin to feel herself succumb to old age. Despite growing more weary, her mental health had improved a lot since meeting (Y/n).  With (Y/n), she finally had someone to talk to and open up to since the passing of her husband. However, with (Y/n) on the verge of dying, she was afraid to lose her. These days, Mrs. Flores had to use a cane to get around places. Her old, brittle frame was growing weaker each day. She found difficulty in taking care of her cats, and even herself. In the days since the accident, she had been praying every night for (Y/n) to wake up.

Mrs. Flores felt her eyes water, as she stared at (Y/n)'s unmoving form. "Oh Mija..." She muttered.

The door opened slightly, and Kyle paused, seeing an older woman by (Y/n)'s side. The old woman turned around and saw Kyle. Kyle walked over slowly, and offered a small smile to the old woman,

"Hi... I'm Kyle, (Y/n)'s friend. Are you (Y/n)'s grandma?" He offered a hand. Mrs. Flores, sent him a small smile, before shaking it slowly,

"No, just a friend like you." She answered.

Kyle pulled up a chair and sat by her, "Do you think she'll wake up soon?"

"Soon? I can't be certain... but... I know she'll wake up eventually. I've been praying for her every night." Mrs. Flores said.

Kyle smiled at her words, "Yeah... you're right. (Y/n) will wake up eventually, and... everything will be better,"

Mrs. Flores looked at Kyle suspiciously, "You like her?"

"Like her of course I do! I mean... we've been friends for a long time..." He trailed.

"You're not like that Kenny, boy right? When she was awake, the boy was the root of all her problems..." Mrs. Flores muttered.
