Ashton knew that his fear was completely unfounded and irrational, yet he was unable to overcome it. He lived in constant fear of other people's opinions about him. This fear struck him at the age of fourteen, and as a result of this becoming deeply imbibed in his consciousness he stopped answering questions and he quit taking part in activities. In other words he gave up due to an irrational fear he felt he could do absolutely nothing about.
Little did Ashton know that his unusual fear stopped him from pursuing a career that could have changed his life forever. It stopped him from meeting new friends. It stopped him from going to new places. And it almost stopped him from meeting Faye Oliver: the beautiful girl that lived in his apartment building.
