Faye was finally able to go back to her apartment the next day. So, with Ashton at her side, she went to go see what damage her fire had done. It was the usual, smoke stains on the ceiling and another ruined pot.
"And that is why I should not cook." Faye chuckled, throwing the pot into the garbage.
She went to her room to change into clean clothes as Ashton tried to figure out how they should decorate her apartment. He found her tiny place cute and suitable for her. It had wood floors with white walls and a lot of bright blue and black aspects. Ashton thought she had the right idea going, but it just needed a little rearranging of sorts.
So as soon as Faye reached where he was standing once again they didn't hesitate to get to work. As it turned out, Faye had all of the things necessary to make the place more comfortable. She had a rug stashed in one of the closets from the previous place she lived that they rolled out onto the floor, and everything else was already there, it just needed to be moved.
Faye was amazed at how Ashton was so great at figuring out the way everything would look right without too much readjusting. She couldn't help but think that Ashton had the potential to be a great interior designer. He most definitely had the skill, the only thing he lacked was a open and friendly aura. Sure he was friendly once the two spent more time together, but as a complete stranger meeting someone for the first time he was shy and reserved. You most definitely needed to be a people person to work with people.
"Where was this?" Ashton asked Faye who was playing with her hair as she admired her newly adjusted living space. He was pointing at a picture of Faye on one of the many trips she had gone on.
Faye had a passion for traveling and you could tell just by meeting her, let alone walking into her apartment. She just had this sense about her that she knew a lot about the world, and you could just tell she had been to many places. Her apartment was the number one way you could tell though. She had various knick knacks from different cities and countries scattered on shelves and desks, and there were a bunch of picture frames with pictures of her adventures hung up on the walls throughout her home.
"Oh, that's the Tian Tan Buddha in Hong Kong. I went there last summer after I had an intervention and felt the need to 'broaden my horizons' so in a shorter explanation, I just kind of packed my bags and traveled around the world until school started back up again. It was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made." She explained to the boy who began to look at all of the pictures she had hung up.
Ashton couldn't help but notice how at peace and happy Faye looked in all of the pictures. She looked care free and truly stunning in all of the amazing places captured in the pictures. He couldn't imagine how breath taking they were in person due to the fact that a picture alone could capture such a great amount of beauty. His favorite out of all of the pictures was one of her surrounded by a bunch of kids at what looked like an orphanage of sorts.
"That was in Africa, I helped build a school for all of them. They were seriously the sweetest little things." She smiled once she noticed Ashton looking at the picture. He couldn't help but noticed how her eyes seemed to sparkle as she recalled the memory.
"You really love traveling, don't you?" He asked her. Ashton didn't notice how she slightly cringed at the word 'love'.
Faye was okay with loving to travel though despite how much she hated the idea of love. She knew she loved it, and she was fine with knowing that because traveling couldn't suddenly get up and walk away. It was always an option that she had. It wasn't temporary like a person. It was permanent and that's why she could accept the fact that she loved it.
"Yeah, something like that." She nodded at Ashton who was looking down at her intently. Faye was at least a good eight inches shorter than Ashton and he secretly found it adorable even though he would never admit it to her in fear of what she would say back.
They went back and forth talking about how cool traveling was and the places both of them wanted to go to. Ashton wanted to go to Brazil the most while Faye wanted to visit India. Ashton hadn't been to many places; the United States and Australia being the only countries he had ever been to. Faye told him stories about the many amazing people she had met and things she had seen. It gave him a sense of wanderlust as cliche as it sounded.
But Ashton was a shy boy. He couldn't possibly meet new people and be as friendly as she was. It would kill him, or so the boy thought.
So as he returned to his apartment at the hour of ten pm he looked up the places she had told him about because he felt that was as close he would get to them. He felt he wouldn't be able to see them in person due to his fears... and he hated that more than anything.
a/n: this is honestly really sucky but it's important for the plot. I attached a picture of Faye's apartment because I found that idea for it :)
Sooo gay marriage is now legal in all 50 states and that honestly has nothing to do with this story but it makes me soooo happy!!
