Luke suffered from Dishabiliophobia.
{Dishabiliophobia - the fear of undressing in front of someone}
Luke was a shy boy: uncomfortable in many situations, a walking ball of anxiety if you will. Just as Ashton knew about his fear, Luke was aware that it was irrational. In anyone else's mind the boy was gorgeous. He was a lanky boy, sure, but he had absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
Luke's fear was based off of what he looked like as a kid. Starting at the age of five, Luke was made fun of because he was what most people would call "chubby". It was a normal chubby though, he would grow out of it, he did grow out of it. But even as his body thinned out and he became incredibly attractive the fear stayed intact. So he grew up changing in the back corner of the locker room and being self conscious around everyone.
His fear prevented him from doing a lot of things: It prevented him from going swimming when his family stayed at a lake house during the summer, it prevented him from ever having sex, it prevented him from being a normal teenage boy.
But most importantly, it almost prevented him from meeting Faye Oliver: the girl working at the tattoo shop on Main Street.
