The first time Mon-El accused Kara of cheating on him was into their first year of their relationship. She had gone out with a few friends after work, texting him that she would come over to his apartment when she was done since they weren't living together at the time. He sent her a message that he wanted her to leave and come home to him. Kara thought it was strange he would suddenly act this way when he had no reason to. Everything had been going good with them and they saw each other all the time. Kara didn't think it would be a problem if she took a night to herself for once. She ignored his text and switched her phone to silent deciding to enjoy her first night out without him for a change, missing the many calls and texts he sent her.
She let herself into his place in the early hours of the morning only to pass out on the couch, wrapped in someone else's jacket and not in bed with him. When he woke her up later that morning and asked her if she had been sleeping around behind his back, Kara explained that she had done no such thing and that one of her work colleagues had given the jacket to her to borrow because she was cold, even going as far as telling him to ask them at CatCo if he didn't believe her and that she was too drunk to make it to bed. He apologized profusely and said he would make it up to her and took her out to a fancy dinner the next night.
The second time he accused her of the same thing was when he walked into CatCo a week later. He had gone there to have lunch with Kara. He saw her talking and laughing with William Dey. He had a face like thunder when he marched over and snagged her by the arm in front of everyone, pulling her away into a nearby vacant room. His grip was sure to leave bruise marks behind for the next few days. Kara told him that there was nothing going on between her and William and she had to work with him since Andrea had given them the task of writing an article together.
He apologized yet again for his behaviour towards her with the promise of taking her to her favourite Opera which she had meant to see weeks ago. They sat down together and talked about why he was acting this way. His excuse being that he had been treated badly in the past and was scared she was going to leave him for someone else like his ex-girlfriend did. Kara reassured him that she wouldn't and left it at that so they could have some lunch with the little time they had left having wasted most of it talking before she went back to work for the rest of the day.
The third time was another month later when she accidentally bumped into one of her neighbours causing him to drop some of his groceries on the floor. Mon-El whispered in her ear to leave him to clean up and went to pull her away when she jerked her arm from his hand to help him pick them up and even helped carry some of the bags to his apartment for him, placing them on his dining room table since she felt bad for bumping into him.
By the time she had gotten back to their apartment now that Mon-El had moved in with her, he pulled her inside, slammed the door and started yelling at her for no reason. Kara went to answer him back when he slapped her across her face, her cheek stinging while turning a bright red. She grabbed her face in shock since that was the first time he had ever laid a hand on her and kicked him out telling him that it was over between them and to never come near her again. She rushed over to her sisters and told her what he had done.
Alex being the protective big sister she is, told Kara that if she ever saw Mon-El, she would shoot both his knee caps out if he came near her sister again. Kara made Alex promise she wouldn't do that because she didn't want her to lose her job at the FBI.
