The Bodyguard

Ever.
I looked around my room and discovered Kakashi wasn't there, I slowly got out of bed to possibly see if he was in his office. I walked towards his office nervously. I still sore and everytime i coughed it felt like i was getting punched over and over again. As i made it to his office I knocked softly. Hoping he would answer.
"Come in" he says.
I open the door slowly and walk towards his desk he was looking at something on his computer screen.
"uhm Kakashi....." i said softly.
He looks up from his computer and his eyes soften.
"Ever why aren't you in bed, you should be resting." He says.
"I woke up and you weren't there, i had to make sure you were still here." I say softly.
"Oh i just had to check some emails, don't worry I'll come by and check on later." He says.
"You don't have to.I'm just happy that your still my bodyguard, i cant even begin to tell how I'm thankful i am for you that you protected me like that." I say softly.
He chuckled lightly.
"I'm not going anywhere, your father actually thanked me for bringing to light how Austen was actually treating you." He says lightly.
"Why did you come look for me? Was it because it's your job or because you actually care?" I asked.
"Ever it's complicated, i definitely care about you....but it's also my job to protect you." He answered,
"I understand well I'll let you get back to work. Kakashi," i answered as i walked out of the office and back to my room.
Kakashi.
It hurt slightly as the look on her face went from relaxed to hurt.
"Damn it" I said under my breathe. I couldn't treat her differently because i was starting to get feelings for her. I had been her bodyguard for that long. Her scent drove me wild, being near her just made everything so clear and calm in my head and i had a clear head since i got out of the service. Her kindness made me smile. After a couple hours in the office i decided to go do some patrols around the house making sure the cameras in the house were working properly as i was walking pass her room i could her struggling to get comfortable. I knocked on the door.
"Come in" she says weakly.
"Hey are you alright? Do you need anything?" I asked.
"No I'm fine thank you" she answered.
"Look Ever, i didn't mean to hurt you, it's just that my job is to protect you, but I do care about you" i replied.
"Kakashi....the night we kissed i lied when i said i regretted it...the truth is that i felt so safe in your arms that for once the thoughts of im good enough went away....." she answered.
"Ever I'm flattered but if you and i got involved I'd be unprofessional." I replied,
"But did you regret kissing me?" She asked.
I take a big sigh.....
"No....but we can't let it happen again." I replied.
"I understand uhm i think want to lay down again." She answered.
"Of course, sleep well." I replied as i left her room.
As i walked back to my office i felt a slight new feeling I've never felt for anyone my heart slowly breaking...I lied i definitely wanted to kiss her and hold her in my arms again.
