Maya is a chemistry graduate from Bengal who has been into reading and writing from a very young age. She loves to read mystery books, especially the ones of Agatha Christie, whom she admires for her impeccable yet simple writing style. Maya is a hard-core Bangali at heart who cannot live without fish and rice.

At what age did you realize that you have a special place for writing? Are you currently or do you ever dream of one day being in the writing industry?

>>I used to write short stories and read from a very young age, but not before fourteen did I consider writing as a hobby and a serious passion. I haven't been published yet but look forward to being one day!

Did any story, on or off Wattpad, inspire you ever and help you carve your interest towards writing books?

>>I have always been reading so I don't know if any book has specifically encouraged me to try writing on my own. Interestingly enough, social issues, history and mythology had inspired me to write my first book.

What is the genre(s) in which you mostly write your books? Do you think you are able to create brilliant plots when you write in that specific genre(s)?

>>I started out as a historical fantasy writer, but now I also work with the fright genre– mystery, horror and paranormal. Everything spooky, so to say. I find it more comfortable to write about the past than the immediate present, however, when writing mystery this can be an exception. Yet contemporary fiction and billionaire romance type categories are not my comfort zone.

What advice would you like to give to authors who are writing in the same genre(s) as yours?

>>For historical fantasy writers out there, please do good research about the myth or event you are basing your story on. Even though it is a fantasy genre, you will need some support. For mystery/horror/paranormal writers, read books of these kinds to understand how to bring in more suspense and thrill. And for writers of every genre, do not be ashamed of your first draft. It is the rawest portrayal of your talent and emotions. It may be imperfect but shall always remain special.

Do you have any favourite quote or quotes from your book?

>>"Yet a butterfly cannot bewitch a spider."
