Hello fellow Wattpadders! Today we have with us CroodsGirl, the author of the book, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Infrared.
I am Abhipreeti (_abhipreeti_) and I have interviewed Viktoria Fyodorova, a.k.a, CroodsGirl.
Catherine Victoria Christie, or Viktoria Fyodorova, is an aspiring, coming-of-age writer who dabbles in Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Fanfiction. She has been writing since 4th grade and dreams of becoming a Disney screenwriter.
Victoria writes creative and original takes on well-known topics and enjoys flawed characters, adjectives, symbolism, and creative world-building. Most of her stories involve a moral lesson based on her real-life experiences.
Victoria lost her older brother in 2021 and hopes to find a way to share his story. She accomplishes this through strong characters and the lessons she learned while grieving her brother. Her award-winning Fanfiction, Infrared, is her first attempt at writing a story based on her brother's death. Milo and Maisie is her second and first original story based on it.
Victoria graduated with a degree in Creative Writing and a Minor in History in 2023 and attended the Disney College Program from 2023-2024. She now works in a naval history museum and writes on the side.
Aside from writing, Victoria loves reading, surfing, hiking, geologic time, and ancient history. She's also looking forward to the day she can call herself a "true" author.
At what age did you realize that you have a special place for writing? Are you currently or do you ever dream of one day being in the writing industry?
>>Honestly, how I got into writing is unusual. One day in 4th grade, my mom and I were at the barber shop, and my mom was getting her hair done. I got bored and constantly annoyed her—to the point Mom asked, "Why don't you write in your notebook?"
Therefore, I did. I went to the car, grabbed my school notebook, and began writing. The story ended up being ninety-six pages long, and since then, I've loved to write.
I dream of becoming a Disney screenwriter because my stories are Disney-like, with themes of friendship, teamwork, and the occasional subtle romance. My writing style is similar to screenwriting, too, with most of my books containing more dialogue and character development vs. detailed descriptions. If I don't become a screenwriter, I hope to aim for editing or publishing. My degree is in Creative Writing, and I intend to do something with it.
Did any story, on or off Wattpad, inspire you ever and help you carve your interest towards writing books?
>>When I was young, I fell head-over-heels with Shannon Messenger's Keeper of the Lost Cities series. I enjoyed her simple, screenplay-like writing style and decided to try it myself. I used to play acting games before I started writing, where I carved my own stories, but when I stumbled upon Messenger, I decided that if she could create an imaginative world, so could I. That inspiration led to comics and the Barber Shop Incident.
