Born in South Africa but raised in Zimbabwe, Salem Miles is a young adult author that has passion for the written craft. She started writing when she was just 14, and since then, she has dedicated herself to writing stories that makes everyone feel heard and seen. During her freetime, she likes to spend her day with her loved ones, preferably drinking coffee and eating a baguette in the process.

At what age did you realize that you have a special place for writing? Are you currently or do you ever dream of one day being in the writing industry?

>>I realised I had a love of writing at the age of 14. I have been writing ever since and I joined the indie author industry back in 2023!

Did any story, on or off Wattpad, inspire you ever and help you carve your interest towards writing books?

>>When you ask that question, I think of two stories: My Favorite mistake by Chelsea Cameron, which is not on Wattpad, and The Guy Next Door, which is by Nyla Camphry on wattpad!

What is the genre(s) in which you mostly write your books? Do you think you are able to create brilliant plots when you write in that specific genre(s)?

>>The genre that I usually write in is Young Adult. Now before, I would have said it's because that was the age genre I was in when I started writing, meaning I thought I knew how to write it better. Now I dabble in New Adult and Fantasy, while still writing YA. I think I do try to create good plots that aren't just centred around drama (like my former works). I recently started Fantasy, and that's one genre I am still dabbling in as well as trying to improve my craft.

What advice would you like to give to authors who are writing in the same genre(s) as yours?

>>A couple of pieces of advice I have is to not take writing too seriously. This is supposed to be fun, and whatever you produce during your first draft, is just that; a first draft. Enjoy writing! And putting words on page is a sport, plotting is a sport, so you are doing just fine! Be happy with your progress!

Do you have any favourite quote or quotes from your book?

>>My favorite quote has to be from The Devington Series, and it is "We are all works in progress, and it takes real guts to admit when you're wrong and try to move from there."
