Crescendo Of Anger

"Italy?"

Wendy nodded and paused the video. Luke sighed and he tried to recall the reason why Liam would take Josh to Italy.

"Wait! Back when we were trying to bring Liam in, we recieved a call from a banker at the bank Liam was using. He mentioned something about Liam having two houses. One here and one in Italy"

Wendy's eyes widened when she also recalled this. She snapped her fingers.

"You're right! I'll get a judge on the phone and see if we can get a search warrant" She said as she dailed a number whilst walking out of the room.

Luke glanced at the laptop screen and resumed the video. His body began to shake with rage. What could Liam be doing to Josh?

"Don't worry Josh, I'll bring you back home"

"You told me we'd do something fun. What we all did was shop and sit in a cafe. Shouldn't we be enjoying the sights? Taking pictures? Have nice food?"

Liam sighed and turned to the omega.

"Josh we have plenty of time to do all that. We live here!"

Josh frowned. So? Just because they live here doesn't mean they can't do it now!

"How about this, you go back home and I'll go watch the sunset at the Accademia Bridge"

"Accademia Bri- Josh that's far from home!" Liam exclaimed. Josh turned to face the alpha.

"I'll be fine."

Liam watched his bubblegum pink hair disappear into the crowd of people. He took out a cigarette from his pocket and flicked the lighter, the orange flame igniting the menthol flavoured cigarette.

After a quick drag, Liam exhales, the cigarette smoke puffing out of his nostrils and mouth.

"Had I known he'd be this stubborn I would've let him be." He murmured to himself and took another drag.

"If he gets lost then it will be for the best. He was beginning to annoy me anyway"

He turns to walk away but he paused when a thought came to his mind. What if Josh suddenly remembered everything and he makes contact with the police back in Sanju.

"Shit!"

Asos cuba heel boots clank around the streets of Venice as Liam followed the direction Josh went to.

"Josh?!" He called out, eyes looking around, hoping to see bubblegum pink hair.

"Josh?!"

Luke woke up with a jolt. He sat up on the hospital bed and glanced at the clock on the wall.

"2:37am"

His feet meet the cold floor and he grabbed the IV pole, the plastic wheels easily rolling as the beta made his way out of the room.

"Josh" he whispered. The hallway was empty and silent, he'd glance behind him to see if anyone would be there to see him sneak out.

He stops by the silver elevator doors and pressed the button, the IV pole falls to the floor causinh a rattle sound before the elevator doors opened.

The beta hopped in and hid behind the closing doors, watching as a nurse was entering his room. He presses the ground floor button and sighs.

"I'm coming Josh"

Josh watched as a coin fell into the water. He sighed and glanced at the sky, the sun dipped down the horizon, casting vibrant hues of orange and pink in the vast sky.

The omega stood there wondering how a beautiful thing can make him feel so lonely. His heart ached for companionship, tears welled in his eyes thinking of how this relationship with Liam seemed wrong to him. It just didn't make sense.

He glanced down at the water under the bridge and watched as his tears became part of the water. He sighed and began to walk away.

"Is that why the sea has salty water?"

When Luke got home, he found seven boxes stacked by  the front door. He pushed them inside and he closed the door, immediately locking it. He kneels down and opened the first box, inside was a wilting flower crown made of yellow roses with lavender flowers.

"Oh gosh, I totally forgot about these" he murmurs. He stood up and looked around the place. Has it always been this quiet?

"Babe! Food is served"

He harshly turned around and winced, he held his stomach and closed his eyes before taking a few breaths.

"I have to get him back"

Josh walked alone in the dark streets of Venice, he'd sigh and shake his head as the realisation that Liam never ran after him replayed in his mind.

He enters the house to find the place dark. He frowns and turns on the lights.

"Liam?" He called out and he walked further inside the house. He finds Liam's phone on the couch and he sighs before heading to the bedroom. Liam was coming out of the shower, his half dry naked body sauntering around the room.

"I assume you're looking for this" Josh says and tossed the alpha his phone. Liam smiled when he saw Josh had returned.

"How was the sunset? Did you take cute pictures?" He asked, trying to mask his envy. Did he have the right to be envious? Probably not. But Josh was his and he has to make this work, regardless of how annoying this omega was.

"Pictures?" Josh asked, the disbelief in his tone took Liam by surprise.

"What's wrong?" Liam asked.

Josh looked at him. He felt like throwing a gallon of hot oil on this idiot.

"Do you love me Liam? Because if you did our day out wouldn't have been ruined. You left me walk away in a town I can barely remember!"

Liam frowned. Is he serious? That's why he's mad?

"You came back, that's all that matters"

Josh felt like exploding. What if I didn't come back? Were you going to sleep peacefully?

"You know what, I think I need space from you. This is clearly a toxic relationship. I wouldn't want to be with someone who'd rather take a shower than look for me"

Liam groaned.

"You are so dramatic Josh, you came back that's all that matters!"

"You still don't get it! I told you where I was going and I waited for you! I fucking waited! And where were you? Back in your house taking a fucking shower!"

In a crescendo of anger that had been simmering beneath the surface for far too long, Liam's palm connected with  Josh's cheek in a violent and uncontrolled outburst.

The sound of the slap was like a crack of thunder, reverberating through the room and momentarily drowning out all other noise. Josh's head snapped to the side as his skin flushed crimson from the force of the blow.

The room fell into a stunned silence, broken only by heavy breathing and the lingering tension in the air, as the aftermath of this explosive act hung in the balance. Josh's teary eyes glared at Liam.

"FUCK YOU!"
