He watched from afar, the faint silhouette of her hair bright against the early morning sky. She was dressed in dark clothing except for the shine of the blade and arrows she slung in her arms as she made her way out to the training field that oversaw the huge body of water separating Paeia from the rest of Krayos.
He could see the confidence in her strides as she gathered around the training field, waving a hand to Darren and Madhavi who waited for her on the other side. Her voice was faint but he could hear her laughter as she jogged over to them, eager to start her day.
For the past week, this had been her regimen. He had watched her get up before the crack of dawn, exercising her various powers in different forms of training before she met with the others on the training field.
She would train, unleashing a light show of powers as she fought against Irah's guardsmen and highest-ranked commanding officers, the extent of her training used to show off how easily she has come to master her powers.
She was a force to be reckoned with and one everyone should fear.
"Look at her in all her horrendous glory. She's the reincarnation of her father with the face of her mother" Yagein's voice whispered in his head. "What a disgusting child!"
"Do you want me to go about and kill her?" Talon whispered as he continued to watch the witch.
"Not yet, mortal. This is going to take a meticulous plan if we are to capture her" Yagein reassured. "For now keep her grounded but insecure and find her weak spot. We are navigating our way to Paeia. Once we land in Krayos, I will let you know and we can begin the infiltration."
Talon nodded in acknowledgment. "Yes, Your Highness. Don't worry. She'll be nothing but broken by the time you get here. I promise you that."
"Good and your reward will be a lifetime of power, serving by me, my dear Talon. Do not forget."
Talon smiled broadly, feeling the familiar and longing taste of power on his tongue as the SilverClaw queen's voice echoed in his head. The familiar tug on their bond moved deep inside of him and he felt a pull to shatter the windows he was standing in front of and run after Venix, marring her until she was too weak to move.
And then she would submit to him. There would be no other choice.
"Talon, are you listening to me or have you become one with the glass window?"
Arsen's voice cut through Talon's thoughts and he let out a deep sigh as reality set in again. With a deep breath, he turned around to see his so-called brother standing by the bed, fastening the last of the leather straps around his wrist where he kept his makeshift hidden daggers.
He was dressed in dark royal clothes Irah had gifted them as they had settled into their new accommodations, his inky black hair strung across his face, still wet from the bath he had taken.
