The shores of Oladera appeared through the grey haze of the next day

The shores of Oladera appeared through the grey haze of the next day. It was a miniature kingdom with towering structures and blooming trees. The ocean cut off to meet the sand, the waves crashing upon the land. The sky was darkening as night approached, the late afternoon staying for a while longer.

Lucien steered the boat towards the shores, the rough winds from earlier in the day dwindling to a mere breeze. He kept a strong grip on the wheel, cutting through the waves as the shores of the kingdom came into place. Venix came up from the sleeping quarters, holding two heavy bags in her hand. She groaned as she pulled them from underneath, heaving them on her back.

The heavy bags weighed her down as she approached the front of the boat, her eyes able to make out the shape of the kingdom in front of her.

"What a small kingdom" she commented, looking down at the dark waves below then. Lucien nodded, passing a glance over her.

"I warned you," he said. "It's more of a drop-by kingdom. Not many people live there. Most people just hold secret business arrangements on Oladera. It's also a popular site for pirates and one of the few islands where mortals and immortals live together with barely any conflict."

"So, it's quiet" Venix retorted. He shook his head. "Quite the opposite actually."

For the next ten minutes, they cut through the waves until the bottom of the boat hit the soft sand of the shores. Venix lurched forward, catching herself before she hit the bow of the boat.

"Stars and Gods, Lucien. Are you trying to throw me overboard?" she hissed, regaining her posture.

"Sorry. I haven't captained a boat in a while" he said, reaching down to pick up the heavy anchor by his feet.

He made sure to secure inside the boat before walking over to the edge and dropping the heavy metal. It dropped into the ocean and hit the sand below, holding the boat in place.

Venix handed him his bag, securing hers on her shoulders.

"Let me go drop the stairs," Lucien said, heading to the back of the boat where the crank was.

The BloodBone let out a deep sigh, shaking her head. "Sometimes I truly wonder if you are an immortal," she said, narrowing her eyes at the edge of the boat.

She sprinted off into a quick run, using all her strength to push over the boat. She landed on the sand with a hard thud, looking back up to see Lucien stare at her in astonishment. "Are you okay?" he screamed from above. She shook her head, rolling her eyes. "I'm immortal. Even if I broke a bone, I would be fine! Come on, Lucien! Live a little!"

The siphon sighed but smiled. He backed up and moments later, Venix saw his tall figure jump from the ship. He landed on the sand, his white hair blowing in his face. A wide smile was on his face, his chest heaving up and down. "That was thrilling!" he said between breaths, shaking his head.
