Match shivered, leaning back in her chair. The air was cold in the exit, a constant breeze on her back. She hated the place. Listening to four go on and on and ON about algebra just made her head hurt. She hated maths, more than anything in the world.
But there was someone that made it all worth it.
She smiled, turning around in her seat to face pencil, who was sat drawing on her desk. Pencil looked up at match upon noticing her, smiling at the sight of her face.
"Hi, match."
Match giggled, leaning her chair on Pencil's desk.
"Hi pence-pence!"
If there was one time match always looked forward to, it was night. Four would turn the desks into beds and let them, "rest," but pencil and match never rested. Though it annoyed the other exitors, they would stay up all night talking. It made everyone mad, but they didn't care. Eachother's company was all that they needed.
"Alright!" Four clapped, bringing everyone's attention to them as they finished up explaining what the solution to C× 7739Xy²⁴⁸ ÷1947%Y was. "I'm done for today. Go to sleep exitors." They disappeared as the desks were suddenly replaced with beds. Everyone went to sleep, except for two very tall objects.
"So.." Pencil whispered, trying not to wake anyone up. "How do you think the alliance is doing."
"I don't know." Match shrugged, looking at the ground. "Me and bubble weren't on good terms when I was eliminated, so I fear the worst..." match closed her eyes, as a hand rested on her shoulder.
"It will be okay. We will get out of out of here, then everything will be okay, because we wont have to do algebra anymore."
"Promise?" Match smiled warmly. Despite the harsh reality of their life right now, every moment was the best moment of her life if it was spent with pencil.
"I promise match, I promise."
"...pencil.."
"Yeah?"
"If we ever escape here.. I want to tell you something. My biggest secret...."
"Match, we will escape. We will. There's no need to promise things like that.."
"I know.. "
"Even so, you being here makes it all better.."
_________________________________________Months had passed. Everyone was still in the exit, but they'd gone through the door... and now they were on the run from four.
But one thing was for certain; match and pencil still had eachother, and that was all that mattered to them.
"Four will find us soon. We could very well die.." Pencil shook her head, her feet making loud tapping noises on the floor.
"Don't remind me.." match scowled, quickly lifting her face to smile warmly. "But, atleast we have eachother! It makes this whole experience a lot less horrible..."
"You mean that?"
"Of course I do, you're my all."

Match fell back into her bed. It had been a year since she and everyone else had escaped from the exit, yet still, nothing had changed. The only thing that she changed about herself was knowledge.
She knew she had to tell pencil how she really felt.
She picked up her phone, taking a deep breath and dialing the number.
"Hey, pence-pence?"
"Hey, what's, like, up?"
"Can you, like, come over for a few minutes?"
"For, like, sure! I'll be there soon."
...
Pencil sat in the living room. Match's house was warm and welcoming, unsurprisingly. It always was. It always would be. But most importantly, because match was there. "So what was it you needed to tell me?"
Match blushed, looking away. "Remember how in the exit, i said if we ever escaped, I'd tell you my biggest secret.."
A smile spread across Pencil's face. Match was hilarious. Of course she wasn't going to go through with it! "Vaugly."
"Well..." match closed her eyes, inhaling deeply. "My secret is..."
"I LOVE YOU, PENCIL. I ALWAYS HAVE."
pencil stared in shock, slowly standing up. She grabbed match, their eyes locking.
"I.. I love you too.... I always have."
"And I always will."
