The funeral was quiet.

Eerily quiet.

How else could it be when the only people that came were Mix, Earth, and Sierra?

But maybe that was better. The fewer people at the funeral, the fewer people knew about his mother's passing, and the fewer people knew, the smaller part of the world knew. So it didn't seem that big. Mix's mother was dead only to a small fraction of the world. To the rest of the world, she was still alive. They didn't have to know her, but she was still alive.

Mix didn't want to stay too long after the funeral. His flight was at 8 pm. so he had just a couple of hours left. Just a couple of hours with Earth.

"Coffee?"

Mix shook his head. Sitting on Earth's sofa, he was checking the weather in Barcelona. "It's raining there. Just like here."

Mix heard Earth let out a loud, disapproving sigh and then he felt Earth's hand on his knee as Earth sat down right next to him.

"Sweetheart, you can still forget about Barcelona and stay here... with me. I want to help you during a time like this, but how can I do that if you are going to be so far away?"

"By letting me go," Mix wrapped his fingers around Earth's hand and held it tightly. "I need to leave, Earth. If I stay here I'm afraid that I'll go crazy. Like I told you, I have a friend from uni who lives in Barcelona now. She said I can come anytime. So I'm going. At least I won't be completely alone."

"But, why can she be by your side right now, but I can't? I told you that I'll go with you—"

"I won't live with her," Mix shook his head. "It's just good that she knows the city. And you, going with me? Earth, your father needs you. The Fire Dragon needs you. I can't possibly take you away from them for months. I won't do that."

"Mix, please—"

"Your father needs you, Earth! More than I do," Mix groaned. "Look, I know that asking you to wait for me for months is too much, and I understand if you don't want to..."

Earth cupped Mix's face and looked at him in shock, "are you breaking up with me? You said you don't want to."

"I'm not... I don't want to, but," Mix closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "I feel like I'm asking too much of you. I don't want you to waste your time, waiting—"

"So loving you is wasting time?" Earth burst out before he fully realized what he was saying. But it was too late. Now it was out and Mix was looking at him without a word as if hoping that Earth would say something more or correct himself. But Earth didn't want to correct himself because there was nothing to correct. Earth loved Mix.

So he said it. This time properly, "Mix, I love you. And a couple of months away from you won't change that. We can still call and text, can't we? Even if were in the freaking 1930s, I would still find a way to talk to you. I would send you a letter every single day if I had to. So, if you don't want to break up with me, then don't bring it up ever again because I definitely don't want that either."
