Mix's knee kept bouncing up and down almost for the entirety of their breakfast. Even the food on his plate was disappearing way too slowly.

And of course, Earth noticed. He leaned over and put his hand on Mix's knee, "are you okay?"

"Huh?" Mix looked at Earth with half-eaten toast still in his mouth. He dropped the toast back on the plate. "Uhm, yeah, I'm fine. Why?"

"Because your leg looks like it's gonna fly out to another dimension soon," Earth chuckled. "Nervous for later?"

Mix sighed, "yeah, maybe a little. Just imagine walking into the Fire Dragon and telling everyone—hey so, uhm, in case you didn't know, Kiet Wongratch was my father. Oh, and turns out, my mother was an illegitimate child of the late mob boss and the sister of the current one. Which makes me the nephew of the mob boss, and wait, that's not all! It gets even worse. The reason why Lee wasn't here for a couple of days is because he killed my mother just because she didn't love him the way he loved her. And after he killed her, he went to see her grave, which is also obviously the grave of my father, and when he was there, my uncle—yeah, the mafia—killed him as revenge for killing my mother..."

"Oh, and that's still not all. The reason why I came to the club in the first place, had nothing to do with the training. I don't even really know how 'professional' fighting works. Why I came to work here is to find out who killed my father and expose this club for the organization of illegal fights because one last thing I haven't told you yet—surprise—I am an investigative journalist. Anyway, that's all. I hope that we can all still be friends."

"Damn," Earth laughed, "I can't believe you forgot to mention that we are dating—some people still might not know."

"Oh, yeah, I'm sorry. On top of all of that, I'm dating your best fighter as well."

"That should be the first thing you say. I believe that I'm the most important here," Earth raised his chin cockily.

Mix felt the all-consuming nervousness slowly leaving his body and the calmness settling in instead. He smiled, "thank you. You always know how to distract me."

Earth got back to eating his breakfast and finishing his coffee, "I'm sure that it will go well. I'm not saying that it will go smoothly... but it will end well. Besides, you no longer want to expose us and you said fuck off to the mafia pretty clearly. They won't be mad for too long. But they might punch you, though."

Mix shook his head, chugging down on his coffee, "they won't if you will be my bodyguard."

"Oh, will I?" Earth cocked his eyebrow. "And what will I get in return for doing such a dangerous job, hmm?"

"My unconditional love and devotion," saying it softly, Mix stood up and wrapped his hands around Earth's shoulders from behind. "Is that enough?"

Earth tapped his cheek and waited.
