Signs of the new season were all around you
Light peaked through your window sooner
The birds sung their songs with more gusto
And of course, the bare branches outside were adorned with flowerets
Their number increasing each dayThere remained one bud, however, that did not blossom
She appeared to remain stubbornly shut
Almost refusing to believe all the signs of life around her
Was it the fear of being picked and discarded that gripped her? Each day you'd visit, observing and waiting
Your patience tested more and more
Until it seemed that she may never reveal herself to youBut do not falter after all this time,
For you have captivated her
Your commitment unyielding
Your adoration never endingHer time to bloom may yet come
For Spring you see,
is not yet done
